No, and I just voted to have taxes raised on cigarettes in Colorado.

Unfortunately (since I just moved here) I wasn't informed well enough on the issue and I thought the taxes would get used for sh!t like education and roads.....not MORE fvcking anti-smoking campaigns! :|

Seriously, people are old enough and should, by now, be informed well enough to know that smoking is bad for them and they do so at their own risk. That being said, I don't want punish them only to have more goddamn anti-smoking ads be aired, that no one listens to anyway. Damnit!

I think there is plenty already being spent to help prevent the young from smoking, funded both in part with federal, state and private funds. Heck even big tobacco was forced to fund awareness programs.

What you could do is push your local representatives to institute pubic smoking bans in restaurants and bars like we have in here in DFW.

Nope. I don't smoke.

I did smoke 1-2 packs a day for over 15 years, and seeing my mother battle COPD and nearly die was enough to make me quit. In fact, a common cold has her in the hospital right now, because her body is so ravaged by COPD

I can't stand the smell, but disagree with any laws banning smoking on private property (this includes restaurants and retail shops).

Thats what they said several years ago around here. Dallas has the stricter laws against smoking that FW does. If you have a properly ventilated area for non smokers, you can smoke in restaurants and bars in FW. Its strictly forbidden in Dallas. Two days ago the hotel lobby petitioned the city council of Dallas to amend the six year old ban. They voted unanimously against it.

About 16 years ago, I used to smoke clove cigarettes and sincerely regretted when I took up some strenuous exercise a few years later. I might smoke one or two cigarettes every other few years or so.

Seriously! When was the last time you even saw a cigargette ad? I surely can't remember.

I mean, I'll tax the hell outta smoking (this would include pot....which should be legalized) if the money is gonna be spent on somthing worthwhile, like offsetting the taxes they're gonna charge us for putting in the light-rail in Denver, or funding the Cultures and Arts (which get also get funds through a small tax), or any number of other things (I already mentioned roads and education). Especially since I really DON'T like breathing it, smelling like smoke coming home from bars (even though I would never vote to ban smoking from bars, only restaurants), and it really does cut down on the number of cuties at bars (since they lose lots of points the second they put that stick to their mouths).

But....damnit, we don't need to spend that money on something that's already well funded and thoroughly taught.

How does a microbrewery in a college town go out of business?

I did... for 10 years, and I'm only 24... yes I started when I was 14. I finally quit 2 weeks ago, many times I told myself I would quit. I finally have, was rough, but happy I did now that I'm not craving them all the time. It's permanent this time, have tried before, but never got past a few days.

G/L with that. It's not over yet. I know lots of people who've gone back after a few months. It's all about determination and will-power. So, again, good luck.

Also, most people I know who smoke started around the age of 14.

You're not out of the dark yet. You'll still be battling this years down the road. Never get complacent.

There can never be "just one cigarette."

...which absolutely killed the restaurants and bars in Delaware.

why dont you find something to get addicted to that wont make you dependent on the health care system for 15+ years while you linger in a state of semi-living? then we can talk about not taxing your habits.
