Corruption Message Gaining Traction Against GOP.

My heart says just maybe
- I do see SOME movement from Republicans. Did something finally tick?

My brain says lol no. These lemmings will follow him to jail because white america belongs to them and all of the racists' shortcoming can be blamed on darker folks. Perhaps this is old news by next week. Nothing else changed.

I actually voted not quite sure.

No. His ratings won't go down because his base will continue to have his back even if he were to go out and strangle all of their babies and puppies. Unless the good people in this country get out and vote next time, we'll be stuck with this piece of shit another 4 years. Go find some of those fascist right wing web sites, or even the DJT Facebook page, those people are simply batshit crazy.

I'm not referring to his fan base, I'm talking about the congress & white house.

Nothing will happen until dems take control of house and can force some oversight. And even then they can't do much because they won't be able to secure meaningful vote in Senate to pursue thisth further.

No, not a chance. The winds have but to change slightly and the topic of gays or trans or taxes has to merely come up and the base will happily switch focus to "the big picture issues".

His base believes in the strong man facade, which Putin essentially destroyed. This is the beginning of the end for Trump.

Wish it would be, but that would be a generous assessment of his supporters.

Congress and the White House uses those base voters to get elected/re-elected.

If the Republican base failed to show up in November, the party would essentially be a rural, southern/western regional party.

You're asking whether elected Republicans are going to go against their own personal interests for the good of the country.

Most of the republicans in congress will distance themselves a bit more from Trump, but that's about it. He probably sent some votes to the dems come November, but other than that nothing will come of it.
From the little bit I heard on the radio today it seems he's going to set a land speed record for backpedaling.
The thing to remember is that 2020 is a long ways away. If the economy stays strong, and they get the mess at the border cleaned up, Trump has a shot at a second term. It doesn't take many wins to get reelected.

Or they feel that on balance person x did more good than harm. Just saying "they're stupid" is lazy, it's an easy way to dismiss the people that could well be electing your next president. We have evidence that that doesn't always work out.

Trump and Putin in a Pence for 2020, Never Gonna Stop, Nobody Gonna Stop.
- End term limits!
- Employ new swamp-ployees.
- Add more gators and deplorables!

Not as long as repubs hold the House & Senate and SC. He's their useful idiot as well as Putin's. They're getting their dreams fulfilled, why would they turn against him? Until he becomes a liability (base starts to abandon him), they will have his back.

Trump has become an extreme liability for a lot of them in the other direction. The GOP can't win on the strength of their base alone.

How many close races are there for the midterms? Red states will stay red. There's far more red states (though smaller populations) than there are Blue states. And Putin will be up to his (proven to get results) tricks. The Dems really need to come up with good one or two word slogans, it's all the uneducated/slower crowd remembers, propaganda works amazingly well in the US. Goebbels knew what he was talking about.

There are more than enough vulnerable Repubs. They're in a quandry. Break with Trump & lose base turnout. Stick with Trump & lose on the other side of it.

No because Republicans are spineless. The Mueller report and the midterms if they go right will be the end of Trump.

Yea, he is a master of spin, and now is furiously back-peddling. The real danger of Trump is that he can very effectively discredit his critics, especially the news media and watchdog institutions like the FBI. If this were closer to the 2020 election, it might have some effect, but it will all blow over and be replaced by something else. And his base will support him unquestioningly, so he only needs a minority of the rest of the voters to win. It just blows my mind that he could be re-elected, but unfortunately, the only way I think he can be defeated in 2020 is if the ballooning deficits from the tax cuts and the trade wars put the economy into recession.

Without the Republican controlled Congress showing any meaningful concern, nothing will change.

Either the Republicans see their tax cuts and supreme court appointments as more important than the president committing treason, or they (some of them) are in on it and have also been compromised by Russia.

Or if every voter that has any sense actually go out and vote against him.

Or not

"However, Trump’s performance at the Helsinki summit, where Trump refused to blame the Russian leader for meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and cast doubt on the findings of U.S. intelligence agencies, did not seem to have an impact on his overall approval rating.

Forty-two percent of registered voters said they approved of Trump’s performance in office in the latest opinion poll, compared with a daily average of between 40 and 44 percent so far in July.

The poll found that 55 percent of registered voters disapproved while 37 percent approved of his handling of relations with Russia.

Among Republicans, 71 percent approved of his handling of Russia compared to 14 percent of Democrats.

Trump still enjoys broad support among Republican voters despite criticism from party leaders about his words and actions while standing alongside the Russian leader answering questions from reporters, the poll results showed."

One can hope, but I thought that would happen in 2016 and Hillary would win easily. It also depends on the Dems finding a decent candidate that can promote some areas of middle ground instead of pushing only the liberal democratic agendas.
