I am with you on this one, especially on a trackpad, quick little flick of the wrist and you are across the screen, move the mouse slow for fine detail work.

I actually find Apple's maximum range with the Touchpad is enough, but a bit slow for the mouse, especially on iMacs or high resolution displays.

I am too, but I want my mouse to speed up linearly with my movement.

Well, it's not like you don't even have any option to tweak that. BTT will allow you to tweak it until you feel like your hand is able to move the cursor to where it is supposed to be.

It doesn't properly. BTT + Mac mouse could never replicate a third party mouse movement or Windows mousing experience.

My Razer Orochi + Razer Drivers mouse in OSX exactly like Windows (perhaps even better).

Touchpads on OS X are excellent, but mice just suck. I have a nice bluetooth mouse but I never use it on my Air.

Whenever I've hackintoshed or used my Air as a "desktop", using my windows mice (logitech trackball, logitech G7 and Microsoft you-know-the-one-im-talking-about-with-the-red-light mouse), they all are a miserable experience on OS X with a 1080p 23" display.

Sidewinder.

And yes, it's hard to get a good mouse with good driver that actuates the movement like it should (linearly, not parabolically).

I found that Razer Mice is capable of doing this in OSX. Running on an 27" 2011 iMac.

Only one. I can't remember the name, it was during the clone days. It looked like a teardrop. It was still a one button travesty, but it was excellent. It was more precise than it's logitech and microsoft counterparts. I believe it was the immediate predecessor to the horrible hockey puck mice released with the first gen imacs(God I hated those ugly macs and the mice).

I admit the magic mouse is nice. I'd use it more if it had gesture support in windows 7.

But every other mouse apple ever made sucks. Mighty Mouse; Horrible right click, Horrible scroll ball, and it felt flimsy. That opaque mouse with the white innards that required for the whole upper half of the body to pressed down to click. And definitely the Hockey Puck. Goddamnit seriously who the fuck has a hand that would ride comfortably on that?

I have a magic mouse on my air and I love it. I would absolutely HATE it if it was used with any other laptop or PC i'm sure. For my main rig, both gaming and working, I prefer the feel and precision of my Mx518. I have two mouses hooked to my main rig now, the Mx518, and a wirless Click Plus... also by logitech. The click plus is shaped the same way, but with batteries its heavier and doesnt glide as smooth, or as precisely as the 518. There is a HUGE difference to grab and use the click plus, then switch immediately to the 518, it is so much more precise. I have both because the 518 is OLD, like 6 years old, and for non gaming i want to give the 518 a rest to extend its life, but i still find myself always using the 518, its just os much better. Head and shoulders over the magic mouse as well. But magic mouse is a brilliant mouse for use with an Air (or im sure other macbooks).
