Btw, isn't the success of the Atkins diet proof of humans being herbivores? People eat substantial amounts of meat and actually lose weight. That suggests that we are built for vegetation.
If you find an open minded Indian restaurant they'll serve Beef Vindaloo. I never liked Indian until I had beef vindaloo, but now that is one of my favorite meals (assuming the cilantro is removed though).Originally posted by: compudog
Beef by far, but I had authentic lamb vindaloo last night at it really rocked! Mmmmm.,,,, Indian cooking is soooooo good!

Textured vegetable protein. You must have some kind of vegetarian option in that poll.
Meat flavored plant products do not qualify as real meat.
That's right. They are better.
As soon as you realize you are an omnivore, you'll recognize the tasty goodness that is real meat.
Keep telling yourself that.
Conclusion
Humans are classic examples of omnivores in all relevant anatomical traits. There is no basis in anatomy or physiology for the assumption that humans are pre-adapted to the vegetarian diet. For that reason, the best arguments in support of a meat-free diet remain ecological, ethical, and health concerns.

OMG, I can handle fundamentalists, anti-Americans, feminists, democrats, and Mac users... but militant vegetarians piss me off to no end.

That's a half assed observation. We wouldn't have the use for teeth such as ours if all we ate were veggies. The success of the Atkins diet is a commercial one. It's long-term effects are yet to be known.

How do you figure we wouldn't have use for these teeth? Incissors cut leaves and bite into fruits. Molars chew. Chimpanzees are most like us, and have no real tools or cooking ability. What do they eat? I'd like to see you, using only your God Given pysical features, kill an animal and eat it. Humans have no claws to kill with, teeth that won't tear apart meat, and digestive systems that can't handle raw meat. What you can do with weapons and fire is irrelevant to the question of biological diet.

Well, now I am not convinced anymore.
The following information is taken from The New York Times, May 15, 1979. According to Dr. Alan Walker, a Johns Hopkins University anthropologist, Homo Erectus, the species immediately ancestorial to our own Homo Sapiens, had evidence of an omnivorous diet. Every Homo-Erectus tooth found was that of an omnivore. However, a small sample of teeth from the human-like species during a 12 million year period leading up to the Homo-Erectus period, indicates the earlier species may have been a fruit eater. Even if this species, way before our own, lived on a fruit diet, they probably would not have consumed what we consider typical fruits. Hundreds of plants produce fruits that are tougher, more substantial foods than what we eat today.

What a stupid article. We used tools, thus replacing the physical attributes of a carnivore. Of course, she completely ignores this fact.
How do you know an activist is lying? Their lips are moving.
Of course we used tools, smart one; thats the point. It isnt natural for us to be able to kill wild game.
