Poll for Monitor Sizes

So what is the average LCD screen resolution nowadays? Someone suggested a poll!

I could not figure out how to create a poll without creating a thread first... So, glad you took the first step.

I'd suggest making the poll simple and having the following.

1) 1680x1050 and lower

2) 1920x1080 (16:19) and 1920x1200 (16:10) both combined.

3) 2560x1440 (16:9) and 2560x1600 (16:10) and greater.

4) Other (maybe eye-finity or whatever else here...)

I see that you have already created the poll... I don't want to complain or nitpick, but I feel that many of the users also have older 1280x1024 monitors as well. Probably not the norm anymore, but about 2 years ago that was the dominate resolution. I imagine that there are several users out there that still have not upgraded from those.

Additionally, the size itself is not so important as the resolution, since that is what will make the video card work harder.

~18% at laptop widescreen resolutions of 13??x768 or 1440x900
~4.5% at 1600x9 or 1600x12
~17.7% at 1680x1050
~15% at 1080p
~6.7% at 19x12
~4% "other" which includes the 2560x1600 and other more exotic resolutions

They even have stats for multi-monitor, too. But multi-monitor is less straightforward because obviously they set up the categories pre-Eyefinity, with dual-screens and Matrox in mind For instance, dual 1680x1050 is the most common multi-mon resolution at 2960x1050

Wow, I did not even know that such a resolution existed. But, besides, that would clearly fall under the 1920x1080 resolution IMO.

I would suggest that this will hardly give us the "average" resolution, unless you are specifically referring to members of techincal forums.

That would be like putting up a poll for average graphics solution. On this site it would be a much more expensive solution than the "average."

Yes, the goal is to get the people in this video forum specifically. The steam survey is great, but does not represend geeks as a whole.

"what is your monitor size" or "what do you think is the best monitor size" are questions.

My ideal size would be 27" @ 2560x1440...(little bit less stressful on video cards than at 25x16)

As for average my guess is 20~23 inches in size at 16x10 and 19x10 res...

its not even a question, its a statement.

I still don't know if it was meant to be "which is better" or "which do you own". Those are questions.

If you look at the first post by the OP: "So what is the average LCD screen resolution nowadays?"
so, he isn't asking what we own, he isn't asking what we think is better, he is asking what we think has the greatest market share... this doesn't need a poll, it needs a link to a statistics site that shows monitor market share by size. However, if he is trying to generate his own statistics, then the poll should be "what resolution monitors do you own"

Why did it cost so much? Is it 120 refresh rate? My bigger monitor only costed me $160 approximately.
