THX 1138, Lucas' first movie...Apparently 1138 is placed somewhere in every Lucas movie...in Attack of the clones it's supposed to be on every clone helmet...American Grafitti it was a license plate...Star Wars princess leia cell# 1138,I don't remember the rest........ actually here is a page

They don't fantasize about the actual technology behind it (it's just magic, end of discussion)
They don't try to think of it as a sociological experiment or that it has some meaning beyond entertainment

Star Wars:
They do fantasize about the actual tech.
They accept that's pure entertainment

Star Trek:
Try doing a search on how the Warp Drive works (do I need to say more?)
