They work great for me. I'm hearing rumors about the 3.8's ruining cards though, that kinda freaks me out

Mobo: Intel D875BPZ
CPU: Intel 2.8c 800fsb

Drivers, yes. Cards, no. Same deal for nVidia though.

And all the while, my Matrox Millenium II is merrily chugging along.

Owned only a little over a month. 9800np flashed to Pro, running at stock Pro speeds.
Did the driver cleaner thing before removing my Geforce4-mx440.
Ran Cats 3.5 then 3.7 then Omega 3.7s, never any problems.
Play mostly BF1942, some Unreal 2K3, Il-2 Sturmovik, Call of Duty Demo...

System:

Mobo: Asus A7N8X (1.04 w/original BIOS)
CPU: Athlon XP1800+@1.66 (166*10)
Video: Sapphire 9800np w/Samsung 3.3ns Flashed to Pro
Ram: 512mb Crucial PC2100

I have not had any (driver related) issues whatsoever with my last two cards: an ATI Radeon 9800 and an nVidia GeForce 4 Ti4200.

As said 1 billion times before, nvidia cards are more forgiving with partial driver uninstalls. I partially uninstalled my Radeon 9800 the other day when I thought I toasted it and plugged in my old GF4 Ti4200. The GF4 installed and ran beautifully (although the image quality with the 45.23's looked noticably blurrier than with my Rad 9800). After a thorough wiping clean of the GF4 drivers with DriverCleaner 2.0 and some registry key deletions, my 9800 is back in and running better than ever (I broke 17k 2k1 3dmarks for the first time!).

What drivers are you using? The Cat 3.7's and 3.8's have been smooth sailing for me.

My Xpert 128 and Radeon 9100 have been good to me for the most part.

I've had a few issues ranging from minor to serious on my 9700 Pro but basically driver updates have cured them all. For the most part I've had a completely trouble-free experience.

No major problems with any of the Cats from 3.2 on up to 3.8. Just a few rendering glitches in older games like Deus Ex - my Ti4600 (before it croaked) was about the same in this department. Stock ATi built 9700P, ASUS P4B533v, P4 1.8A -> 2.7, 512 mb Samsung DDR @ 400.

9700pro oem asus p4p800, kingston hyper x 3500 256mbx 2. Has ran every game I have tried flawlessly. No problems, except when I somehow did a bad install of cat 3.7. reinstalled, worked fine.

P4 1.6 / Radeon 7K - had some insignificant cosmetic 2D issues with desktop in WinXP, all gone after updating to the latest drivers, I'd say bug free and rock solid now. ATI all the way!

Small problems here and there, nothing *too* annoying.

Had the very 1st Radeon (before they had the numbering scheme.) that card still runs in a friend's machine.

Currently using a 9700np. (beside the infinite loop problem, which going diwn to agp 4x fixed *cross fingers*)

Basically, ever since they begin using catalyst driver system, its been pretty easy to work with.

No, ATi's drivers are not as good as nVidia's IMO, no biggies, they just aren't quite there yet, but they definately work good enough to keep me happy.

A few issues - Catalyst 3.6's had a bug that, with anisotropic enabled, the Folding @ Home screensaver display would be corrupted. Minor problem.
Catalyst 3.7 not only didn't fix this, but then it also caused a lockup when I'd go to the screensaver properties tab, with the F@H screensaver selected. And I mean a hard lock - the system would be totally unresponsive to anything.
Catalyst 3.8 seems excellent, once I got the 60Hz fix implemented thanks to a few rounds with Rage3d tweak AND Refresh Force.

A lot of ATi users forget that ATI has a built-in refresh program, just go to ATi control panel then displays tab and click on your monitor button in there then you`ll see it.

It works for both OpenGL and D3D ,so no 3rd party refresh fix program is needed.

A7N8X Deluxe
2500+ @ 2.2
512MB Buffalo PC3200

No major problems with an Xpert98 PCI (in my Dad's machine), PCI Radeon 32MB SDR, or a 9600 Pro. Only real problem was having to disable fastwrites with the 9600 Pro.
