I'd like to know how fast you overclockers out there have your memory speed at stable and with what type of memory and how much ram along with system specs. I'm trying to decide what type of memory to buy. Hopefully, someone out there got 162+ MHz out of their ram.

I have my RAM running at 157Mhz. The RAM can go higher than what I have it now. My CPU won't though. I've been running at this speed for about 2 and 1/2 months now.

I have gotten a 128Mb stick of cosair pc133 cas 2 ram to run at 171mhz at cas 2.
It would seem to be the limit of this stick the ram, although I have lowered it a bit
to ensure no errors when running.

I run it now at 167mhz and have done so for the past 5 weeks with no problem whatsoever.

Hey bogdan, where did you purchase that ram and does it run at 2-2-2 timings at that incredible speed? I only heard of some ram that can do 154-156Mhz @ 2-2-2 and 160-161Mhz at 3-3-3. By the way, what are your system specs?

151 Cas 2-2-2 Crucial 7E(2 128mb Sticks). On a CUSL2.

You should be able to get 2-3-2 160+ with the HSDram PC150 stuff.(the default is 150 2-3-2, or is it 3-2-2... )

$99 Apacer 133 w/Infineon chips
$79 Mushking Budget 133 w/Micron chips

Hey Stro,

Its cosair ram model number " cm654s128-133c2 " - 128mb (8mx8).
bought it from the cosair dist in australia
cost like twice as much as the cpu.($430 aus).

I have actually just raised it to 170mhz. ( way to go!)

duron 600mhz@790mhz core voltage 1.55.
cpu temp underload 38 c , m/b 24 c ( maybe need to look at cooling).
Asus dvd drive , ricoh rewritable drive , Asus 50x cd drive.
quantum 13gb ata33 h/drive (since i got a rewritable drive I do not need any more)

The chip will do the magic 1ghz
(thought I would save that for later on when I need more speed)

running abit kt7-raid.
fsb/pci 107mhz/35
fsb plus 6mhz
This gives a total FSB @ 113mhz ( 226mhz )
(which ,from memory, is rather good for the motherboard).

Si-sandra scores alu:520 mb/s , fpu 636mb/s
keep in mind I am only running 1 x 128mb stick. would like to know what 256mb
would score like.
it reads : 170mhz in Si-sandra benchmark as the memory bus speed.
All bios setting are set to max.
yes it is defintely running at cas2.
( if i am reading this wrong can someone please let me know).
from what I can tell running at 170mhz is not normal.
At this speed it is very stable.

hope this helps.
I will check with the Company i bought the ram from
to see if my readings are correct and if this is normal for this ram.

will let you know.

my alu is 295
my fpu is 305
i'm running 256mb pc133...
fsb plus is @ 5
why is it so low?
where do you check on sisoft sandra for the memory bus speed? (not familiar with program)
what harm will jumping 100 to 105 do?
what does this effect? just the ram? or does it tweak the pci/agp slots also?

Thanks for the advice Officeboy.

I knew it was too good to be true.
In that case all i get is 150mhz.@cas2.
But that may be the board holding it back.
I will try the ram on an Asus A7v board and see what happens.

Sorry to shatter your hopes Stro and for the bum steer.

Which comes to the point what good is si-sandra
if it can not get even the readings right.

Losty with the abit board make sure you have the dram clock set to hclk + pciclk
this sets the memory to run at 133mhz. (its in the softmenu III ).
It looks like it is running at 100mhz ( which is the hclk reading ).

Try this link it should help you out.
kt7 faq

With Si-sandra go into Mainboard info and scroll down to
Memory modules the reading is there ( for what it is worth!)

This was benchmark i saw it maybe of some help.

Cosair PC133 Cas 2 review[/L]

I believe some boards are picky about the ram you use.
You would need to sure it would run in your system.
Not that I have had any problems with generic ram.
Have ran Generic PC100 ram on an a7v with no problems.

The thing with buying brand name ram is that there is the chance ,usually a very good one, that it can be overclocked.

From what I can glean it is overclocking your ram where the gains can be seen not whether it is cas2 or cas3.

thanks bogdan!

dang...after 1hr of running 3dmark2000 ... computer locked up...
maybe fsb plus should be turned back to 100
dont know...
how do you guys oc the fsb with stability?

under sisoft sandra memory modules i get
mosel pe08641u4sn3-3226 128mb (supposedly i have micron ram is that bad?)
16x(8Mx8) sdram pc133u-333-542
(cl3 up to 133mhz)(cl2 up to 100mhz)

i don't know where to set my cl3/cl2 sdram cycle
but is it better to run cl3 133 or cl2 100?

I read a site once, lost the URL though, some guys over in japan had gotten the FSB over 200 (non ddr) or something, it was crazy. I'm sure someone will post the URL.

Click the link above your post it also lists pc100 cas 2/3 and pc133 cas 2/3 benchmarks.
Make that two posts I was not fast enough.

I usually do not do much benchmarking on my own system.
I just change the settings until it does not crash when booting into windows then i use it.
Keep an eye on your temps do not want to fry anything.

It will be apparent when using it normal if it is stable.
play a few games , surf the net , i found encore MP3 heats my system up.

Run Seti or is it RC5. They run your CPU at high loads.
or I just found this I have no ideas if it is any good or not.

CPU Burn-in

If you start getting errors then you need to change a setting. It could be as simple as upping the voltage or knocking a 1mhz of the fsb cpu speed.

To change your Cas setting go into Advanced Chipset Features in your bios.
It should be the six entry down ( Sdram cycle length ) or something like that.
I cant find my manual ( which does not suprise me ) so I do not know for sure.

Hope this helps you out.

Hey bogdan and everyone out there who is use the SiSoft program. This program is known to be wrong quite a bit as it keeps telling me my SMBIOS/DMI information is inaccurate. I have an Abit BF6 w/Celeron 300a (yes, it's very outdated; getting a cC0 700 chip soon) and I wanted to see what PCI bus speeds I could get. I raised the FSB to 100 to get the Celeron @ 450 with the AGP Divider set to 1/1 and the PCI Divider set to 1/2. Everything worked great and I got higher Drives Benchmark scores but SiSoft only reports that the AGP speed is too high and my PCI bus speed is 25MHz with 1/4 PCI Divider when it is actually 50MHz. If my components can run at this speed, it is theoretically possible to have a 200MHz+ FSB with a 1/2 AGP Divider and 1/4 PCI Divider. The only limit would be the RAM and CPU. Anyone else out there have great memory that can overclock?

Did anyone get a chance to read the memory review by lostcircuits.com? The EMS PC150 HSDRAM ram at 166MHz @ 2-3-2 and could probably do 170MHz+ @ 3-3-3!! BTW, thanks for the CPU Burn-In link, Bogdan.
