Well ok I don't hate them. I feel pity

I hate people who call standard transmission "manual".

I guess I do revmatch then. But mostely I shift so fast there isn't time for any of that. Next time I take a spin I'm going to be thinking of the steps now.

Okay now was that shift then hit the clutch then the break?
Or break, shift, clutch EMERGENCY BREAK! Gas! I need new tires now.

It's fun to heel-toe downshift! Plus you can't take corners quickly without it... and that's automatically rev-matching.

I've been driving an automatic for a week now.

But before that was exclusively manual.

I don't take any notice of how i revmatch, i just drive the damn thing, which many of you seem incapable of doing due to the number of votes for "I drive an auto" and all the "YACT: How to drive stick?" threads

And where's the option for "This thread sux0rs"?

Do you mean down-shift when coming to a stop? Yes I do. Sometimes I don't even have to use my breaks. It's great when the tailgator behind me doesn't realize and almost rearends me.

Well since more than half the cars in the US are sold as automatics a "standard transmission" is technically an auto isn't it, smarty man

Maybe I'm just too old. I still say "Did you hear their new record yet?" Besides I believe that some cars you still need to "add" the Auto trans for extra $. My last car was $600 cheeper because I wanted "manual".

Every car I've looked at - import or domestic - the automatic has always been optional.

Often rev-match and double-clutch on downshifts, rarely on upshifts. Have tried heel-and-toeing to mixed results.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. Automatic is standard on the Corvette, and manual isn't even an option on many cars.

I don't always drive the same way so I can't really answer. Sometimes I drive like a freaking granny, sometimes I drive like a maniac. I think I drive pretty well though, after having let some other people drive my car, I can see the difference. I try to go smooth on the car no matter how I'm driving. I don't like putting SUDDEN stress on anything. So whatever I do is usually somewhat gradual/progressive even if I'm wimming, so the car doesn't feel like it's taking a huge toll.

I've been revving more lately just cause I've been pissed off more and taking it out on my car and stereo rather than people. I still go smooth on the car, but I just press down more as I get to 4k rpm and keep accelerating more after. I don't do burns all over the place though and I usually corner within the abilities of my car, unlike some [dangerou] people.

Well I guess it's mostly true. Mercedes, Jaguar, Lexus, etc are huge exceptions though

where is the "like I stole it" option? I wore out a centerforce dual friction clutch in less than 8000 miles on a 94 HP car

That's nothing.

My dad has replaced 2 clutches in Mitsubishi Lancer Evo's after 800 miles and 1400 miles!
