I've seen the design. The trench where the footing is poured goes all the way down to hell.

Maybe it won't be a physical wall at all, but one that removes all the reasons they come here. Maybe that is Trump's firewall. What if we have strict enforcement of E-verify, as an example? What if we actually started enforcing our laws. What if we made it very expensive for employers to violate the laws?

There are already laws on the books that offer pretty stiff fines but there's two problems:

1) No one turns them in/ No one actively enforcing it
2) Fines are not high enough to counter the savings offered by employing illegals

IF they were to start putting the owners in jail for the offenses, I think you'd actually see it drop.

SA has over 600 Billion in reserves. The entire Eurozone by comparison has a bit over 700 Billion. There are only 3 countries with more reserves than SA - China, Japan, and Switzerland.

SA has been "burning through" it at around 9-12 billion / month.

At that rate they can go another 5 years without breaking a sweat.

They're nowhere near meltdown.

A wall can be tunneled under for a fraction of the cost of the wall itself (just look at elchapo getting out of jail) and most of the people who are illegal here got here not by walking across but arriving on a plane with a valid visa like student or h1b or tourist and overstaying.

The border is as secure as can be. If you want more security.. stop giving out visas but of course no one will ever listen to logic.

Not quite. Less than half of illegal immigrants here are those overstaying visas. You don't have to come by plane to get a visa. You can fly in or walk through a border checkpoint with a visa.

I'm not nearly as concerned about those over staying visas as those sneaking across the border. The ones with visas - we know their identity, not so with those who sneak in. We should have done some sort of background checks for those with visas, not so with those sneaking across the border. IMO, the differences are substantial.

This poll is based on the false premise that Trump will win the election. He may or may not. If he does, I have no idea what the answer to the question is. He's going to have to go through Congress to get funding for it. That process is far from automatic and it can consume time even if ultimately successful.

Not just Congress, MEXICAN Congress. I'm pretty sure they wear colorful masks so that you can't tell them apart.

I'd love to have a secure border with near-zero illegal immigration, but frankly I'd find him just as believable if he promised that The Wall would be hand built entirely by the original cast of Pink Floyd.
