Just 2 that we actually use....one is a universal one that actually does very well and the other is for the DVD player.....We hardly ever use the receiver one as for the most part, it is tied in with the universal...I hate lots of remotes hanging around!

Mostly just have to use the TV and Receiver remotes, thank god! TV remote works on VCR for simple functions, Receiver works on DVD and CD player. Always wind up breaking out the DVD remote for DVD's, tho, and that usually gets rather comical!

I solved my remote problem with one cheap universal GE remote for 12.99 at Target, it controls the DVD, VCR, TV, and Receiver. THe only problem is that the little button in the middle of the dvd navigation buttons at the top of the remote doesn't work, you have to press play instead, which is all the way at the bottom of the remote.

Edit - I pretty much only use the TIVO and the AVR remote though as they can do almost everything I need to do.

40-50, maybe? Could be more. Some are fairly cool, others are a little silly. I've got a couple of programmable touchscreen remotes, some remotes from Jeff Rowland and EAD that could be used to beat an attacker into submission, and some from B&amp;O and Proceed that are the size of a hardcover book and probably ought to have remote controls for the remotes. Don't have the weird RF gyro-egg remote that Sony came out with several years back any more, though.

The receiver remote is also a universal one that can control the TV and DVD player but it doesn't have all the features I need from the TV or DVD remotes. I also have assorted other remotes that I don't use anymore

I use only when watching a movie or something that does the tv/Replaytv/dvd/receiver, If I'm just watching tv I use the one that came with my replaytv that simplifies things.

i only need one. my One For All Producer8 for 8 devices.

however, i like it better to just use the 4 device universal remote from the cable company plus one other extra for the dvd player.

i have like 10 or 12 but i only use 1, my hometheater master mx-700, it is awesome and imo way better then sucky prontos.
