Foxnews.com at this time is the only major news site I'm aware of that doesn't plaster results all over the front page (though its mobile version DOES still plaster them).

CNN, NBC news, etc. are really quite unusable and for some reason are too stupid to put a link with a "click for results" like they do on Fox. I can't believe how stupid this is, so I'm accessing them much less at the moment.

I hope that next time there's any major event, they put spoilers on the front page in case I didn't see it on TV.
Like when the Presidential election happens, I don't want the results plastered all over the front page if I haven't watched it on TV. That would suck.

(I'm assuming the Olympics are broadcast live, because that's the only sensible attitude to have, if they aren't, then blame the Olympic broadcaster, and not the news sites who have nothing to do with said broadcasters inability to offer a quality service).

They are not broadcast live in many cases. Only NBC has the ability to air footage of the Olympics and even they are spoiling their own events.

If you're at all a fan of sports you know that watching the game is worthless if you already know the results. Presidential elections are not a spectator sport.

Yeah that assumption is wrong, which is why people are raising this fuss.

And the Olympic Broadcaster is one of the ones posting spoilers for things they haven't aired yet.

I know that's what NBC do.
My point is that you shouldn't complain about news outlets having news on their front page just because one company decided to be stupid and crap at what they do. That's not the fault of all the news outlets, that's the fault of the broadcast company.

If you have a problem with the news outlets having "spoilers" on their home pages, then complain about the root of the issue, don't expect other news outlets to have sympathy because NBC are screwing it up for everyone.

It wouldn't bother me at all, because the news outlets are doing their jobs, reporting news.

It doesn't bother you because you don't watch the Olympics.

The root cause of the issue is that England isn't in the same time zone as the US, so unless we take the day off work we're stuck waiting until the evening and not checking the news throughout the day. I already have some co-workers who've gone dark on checking the news because it spoils all the results. CNBC of course doesn't because it's a financial site, so I can still get financial news.

I've been watching it on and off because I'm working weekend shift at work, but other than that I'm not following it that much, so it does not bother me, but I totally see your point. They should at least have a link and not plaster it right on the front page. My dad records lot of hockey games if he can't be home to watch it, then he'll watch it when he gets the chance. Nothing pisses him off more than when he sees the score before he got to watch it or someone says it. Guess it's the danger of not watching sports live.

Since when? Since like, an hour or two ago when the women's marathon finished? Yeah, I guess I haven't watched the Olympics in like 2 hours.

I don't give two shits about the Olympics, so I care even less about this.

Why would anyone expect the news agencies to withhold the scores for events that are completed...even though a competing news agency hasn't broadcast the event?

If somebody feels it will ruin it for them if they know the results before watching reruns, then it's on that person to avoid hearing the results. The results are news, and the news gets reported.

It could be that there are more people who want to hear the results as soon as possible than there are people who don't want to know until they see replays on TV.

I think it's silly to even suggest the world's media should voluntarily hide results so that the network that broadcasts the events can have more viewers.

I have watched some of the Olympics and knowing the results ahead of time didn't ruin it for me.
