I'll do it once a week. Win2k is fast, so I don't mind waiting 10 minutes for it to defrag all 4 partitions. (in win98 I used to wait a months for it to defrag, until I heard about diskeeper).
I do it once a day, or every other day. I run Win2k(home) and NT4(work), so I use Diskeeper and it might take 1-2 minutes to defrag a 15G and 45G drive. I highly suggest using Diskeeper on a Win9x, it definitely speeds things up tremendously.
I defragment at least once a week, using the stock disk defragmenter w/Win98. I takes about 20-25 minutes to defrag my 45 gig hard drive. I'm lucky that I have a fast system. My buddy has the same HD with a 600MHz system and it takes almost two hours. I'm going to look into the Norton Utilities though. It sounds cool.
About once a week at least, always with Norton Utilities 2000 Speed Disk and always at night. When you have 3 hdd's and 72 gigs worth (at least 50% constantly moving around) it takes a while. Sometimes I have it running for at least 12 ~ 15 hours before it's done.
Speaking of Speeddisk, does anyone know how to keep it from messing with Bootsect.dos thereby messing up the primary partition in a dual boot config? The fix at Symantec's site doesn't work
