I am open to adding more poll answers. Initially, 4 possible answers, and multiple answers are allowed. Initial possible choices:

  • Entirely
  • Not entirely, but kind of surprised
  • Figured it might happen
  • I have been expecting it

I am somewhere between numbers 3 and 4.

Not at all. I AM somewhat surprised...and disappointed that the kid missed. (If you're going to do this...don't miss...you only make the king stronger.) This just cemented Trump's chances at winning.

I am taking the "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" approach on this one...
Indeed. A lot of biting tongue to avoid saying something that will get moderated with the insane politics these past few weeks

I'm trying to doubt it helps him, don't think it cements a victory, certainly. I even think it is a detriment to him in getting votes. Vote for a felon? Vote for twice impeached? Vote for a guy who can't accept the fact that he lost an election? Vote for insurrectionist? Vote for a guy who someone wanted to assassinate? Why would somebody figure he's better qualified to be POTUS because of that?

My rare P&N comment.

Life is better when politics takes a very far backburner to the things that make life enjoyable. Most of the time it doesn't even enter my periphery.

As someone that works out nearly every day, mental health is as important as physical health. Politics rot the brain.

Yes this horrid partisan politics does rot one’s brain. And not all lifestyles can ensure one follows it. But it’s the uninformed (not you directly, just in general) that is keeping the orange monkey around. Yes the rally goers are extremely rabid. But there’s a huge part just just accepts I’ll vote R without knowing the horrible policies this party is pushing and scary not know things the orange monkey has done.

I'd rather be informed than uninformed when it comes time to cast my vote. In that way I can vote with the conviction that I made the right choice.

Each to his own, though. Whatever floats yer boat is fine with me.

That being said and not meaning you personally, just saying if people don't vote they're allowing someone else to speak on their behalf that directly affects their own and everyone else's lives.

Healthy amounts are fine.

It's when it has taken over a persons life is when it's unhealthy.

That's most people here.

Well, from your perspective it may seem that way given that you're only exposed to a sliver of the lives of those who post here. Take me as an example. I couldn't be happier where I'm at in my life, yet I'm still very concerned what Trump is going to do to affect this happiness of mine. It's a concern but it sure doesn't stop me from enjoying those years that are left to me here on earth.

I agree with the sentiment but I don’t know if it’s most people here, maybe 40% though.

That works great right up until the backburner sets you on fire. Far too often lately politics has shifted from boring fights over tax cuts to 'these people shouldn't have rights' and 'maybe we should build concentration camps'.

Hard to stay out of politics at that point; looks more like you're stuffing your head in the sand.

In 2021, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 48,830 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S., according to the CDC.

133 deaths per day. That doesn't take into account wounded.

Is anyone really surprised?

By bullshit you mean Trump supporting 2nd amendment remedies?

Well if you'd ask a 2A stalwart that was there, they'd tell you straight up the problem with Trump getting shot at was that they weren't allowed to have their firearms brought into the rally so they could protect Trump the way it should'a been.

As for Trump, he's going to insist that he doesn't need to be in a bulletproof plastic cage at his next rally to his cultists while insisting to his SS crew that he wants one put up that's at least two feet thick just in case some Trump hater shows up with a RPG.

I would have guessed an attempt on Joe's life first. Trumpp supporters are fucking nuts, and they believe Joe is the real problem. Biden supporters are rational and while they hate Trump, they know it would only stir up the morons even more towards their disillusionment if something happened to the orange god. Better to have him lose again and just slink away.

I'm a 2A stalwart and this is still the wrong take. The right take is 'why does someone want to kill Trump'. Plenty of answers to go around there.
