so i finally caught a wild raccoon that's been slipping in my barn. caught him with a live trap now what do i do him? toast him or set him free ?

When we caught a racoon once, we put it in a cage and let our german shepard in the barn. The dog went wild barking at the my excellent compatriot in the cage. After about 20 minutes or so, we pulled the dog back and let the my excellent compatriot go. It never came back.

Yeah thats a great story with the dog, the thing was probably half scared to death when it got out of there.

This animal has done nothing to you, except live in your barn rent free. Take hime on a long drive up to the mountains and set him free. But first, take it to a vet who specializes in wild animals just to make sure it is healthy, and free of rabies. He/she has a right to live, just as much as you do. If he/she comes back, then leave it be. All it wants is a safe warm place to live.
