And I'm talking about after you pay your bills off etc every month how long would it take you to save 1k.

That does not compute. If I NEED something for $1,000.00, I'll buy it right this instant using credit. Haven't "saved up" cash since I had a paper route 35 years ago!

Ouch at 2 weeks! It would take me roughly five months $100.00 per pay check. Is it worth it to most of you to save money for something big? I don't know I often times FIND something to buy with my $100.00 per pay check left over.

does it have to be my money? will take me about 2 years. we save more'n 1k/month out of my husband's pay though, before we ever see the check..

I haven't lived in a "cash" world for so long, I wouldn't know how to cope in one. If I was on the right project, I could clear $1,000.00 in about a week, but those jobs are few and far between. That pay is generally spoken for, though.

I remember back in 1986, when I wanted to buy a riding mower for $1,750.00, which my wife considered a luxury...

I said fine, I'll pay off the damn thing using only extra overtime fundage (above and beyond my normal overtime), which I managed to get in just a couple months... easily!

Well, right now I'm living a charmed life.

The wife didn't work for 15yrs and then re-entered the workforce three years ago so we are accustomed to living on my income and now we have hers as extra income.

You didn't stay with the CNC? huh. Some people make good money at it, up here in motown.

Carpentry is neat, I wish I was better at it.

3 months or so.. I'm saving for something that is gonna cost me around $4500 when completed though.. hopefully I'll be able to start on it next summer.
