That does not compute. If I NEED something for $1,000.00, I'll buy it right this instant using credit. Haven't "saved up" cash since I had a paper route 35 years ago!

How long would it take you? Poll included.
And I'm talking about after you pay your bills off etc every month how long would it take you to save 1k.

I haven't lived in a "cash" world for so long, I wouldn't know how to cope in one. If I was on the right project, I could clear $1,000.00 in about a week, but those jobs are few and far between. That pay is generally spoken for, though.
I remember back in 1986, when I wanted to buy a riding mower for $1,750.00, which my wife considered a luxury...I said fine, I'll pay off the damn thing using only overtime fundage, which I managed to get in just a couple months... easily!

I would break my kid's piggy bank over his head then make him put all the change in rolls. If there wasn't enough I would sell his toys. If I want something, by God, I'm going to get it.:Q
