<< Wait. Putting the auto trans. in neutral and going downhill will kill it? How? >>

Well it won't immediately kill it, but it is bad for it. Its not going into neutral thats bad for the tranny, its going back into drive at a high rate of speed, thats really bad for the tranny. Plus you burn up brakes quicker by not letting the engine take on some of the downhill braking. Of course I drive a stick, so I get to save mucho gas by going into "mexican overdrive".

these things are just magnets on the fuel line.. this is one of the oldest scams in the book.. they just cost more now.

I actually saw a review of this kind of product on local TV consumer line.... I can't remember correctly, cause there was two other "methods" of saving gas....but this one either had none or minimal impact of fuel mileage. It's not worth it. I supposed to have a scientific explanation on how this may give you a better mileage, but in the real world, it just didn't do much, if at all.

I would stay away.

I tried one a few years ago on my Ford Van. It did nothing. It is just a magnet wrapped around your fuel line. I got mine from JCWhitney. Harbor Freight sells them as well. Save you money.

Take a look of the URL. Would you use 216.142.45.1 or register a www.***.com if you were a decent company? I am not buying. Oops, just taught them a new trick of scam.(*_*)

Actually, my dad's old high school buddy figured out how to get about 80 MPG by rebuilding the fuel system and carburetor on his GTO (I think it was a GTO). He presented his idea to a few car manufacturers and Ford bought the rights to it and shelfed it. The guy got loads of money and partied his way out of this world.... So, car manufacturers DO have ways to save fuel, but they may have "strategic partners" that don't want this stuff out there.

fuel additives are a waste of money also, another scam on the hard working American public. They have found something that DOES actually save fuel costs if you are interested,... a small engine.

From IBM's Patent Server:
US4802931: High energy product rare earth-iron magnet alloys

Croat; John J. , Sterling Heights, MI

General Motors Corporation, Detroit, MI

Magnetically hard compositions having high values of coercivity,
remanence and energy product contain rare earth elements, transition
metal elements and boron in suitable proportions. The preferred
rare earth elements are neodymium and praseodymium, and the
preferred transition metal element is iron. The magnetic alloys
have characteristic very finely crystalline microstructures.

US4496395: High coercivity rare earth-iron magnets

Croat; John J. , Sterling Heights, MI

General Motors Corporation, Detroit, MI

Ferromagnetic compositions having intrinsic magnetic coercivities
at room temperature of at least 1,000 Oersteds are formed by
the controlled quench of molten rare earth-transition metal
alloys. Hard magnets may be inexpensively formed from the lower
atomic weight lanthanide elements and iron.

US4770723: Magnetic materials and permanent magnets

Sagawa; Masato , Nagaokakyo, Japan
Fujimura; Setsuo , Kyoto, Japan
Matsuura; Yutaka , Ibaraki, Japan

Sumitomo Special Metals Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan

Magnetic materials comprising Fe, B and R (rare earth elements)
having a major phase of Fe--B--R intermetallic compound(s) of
tetragonal system, and sintered anisotropic permanent magnets
consisting essentially of, by atomic percent, 8-30% R (at least
one of rare earth elements inclusive of Y), 2-28% B and the
balance being Fe with impurities. Those may contain additional
elements M (Ti, Ni, Bi, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Al, Sb, Ge,
Sn, Zr, Hf) providing Fe--B--R--M type materials and magnets.
While theoretically, magnetically polarizing hydrocarbon chains might give an increase in efficiency to combustion, fracturing these chains, their claim, won't. IMHO, the polarization would have to occur after combination with air, but before combustion (inside the intake manifold or injector body), to yield any possible significant benefit. It'd be more difficult and expensive to implement then any possible cost saving, which is why the automakers haven't done it.

** SCAM! **

Uhhhh yeah right. Thats just a common urban legand that the auto companies are just sitting on technology that would give them 80 mpg. So every gas engine maker is doing that too? Do you think a GTO could ever get that much gas mileage? You could probably tow a GTO whose engine is idling and it would burn more gas than that.

If someone came up with that, they could make Bill Gates look poor

I saw the same news item in Seattle, my recollection was that they presented three fuel savers, I think it was:

- Additive (didn't work)
- Magnet (marginally worked)
- Insert to swirl the ir in the intake manifold (didn't work)

Their findings were the additive and the insert dropped fuel economy but the magnet did actually increase fuel economy. The only problem was that it was only a couple of percent so for a gas guzzler you might save $300 over a 15 year life of the car.

However I wouldn't buy one and you migth want to look at this warning:
http://www.sfu.ca/chemcai/magscams/BAANote.html

I just wanted to point out that I remember the news show actually showing it did help, not a very scientific test though since they seemed to do only one road test and indicated that it might be mixed driving (city/highway). Not what I would call a scientific test.

The main thing to note is that it is not a secure site (no padlock on the browser status bar) - a real bad sign!

Secondly, energy is stored in molecular bonds and breaking them before combustion will actually reduce the energy contained in a fuel. It's the difference between burning methanol, say, (simple molecule = very cool flame) and burning gasoline (more complex molecule = very hot flame).

Interesting scam though.

It's SPAM

"By way of its patented Neodymium super conductors it generates the specific resonance frequency that when installed over the fuel line, will fracture the hydrocarbon chains in the passing fuel providing accelerated combustion"

Guess what the "patented Neodymium super conductors" are Magnets!!!

The same Neodymium magnets the

the Snake Oil Hucksters sell in braclets, Matress Covers and ETC.

If yu are Realyy Interested you can buy them for $9.95 each and put them on your fuel line wit some Tape and see how they work.....

Based on the $70.00 price tag I say NO HOT DEAL HERE !!!

they claim that the patent is under "general motors company" when the real general motors is a corporation. this is definately a scam.

These things really work!
It lightens your wallet.
Less weight = better fuel economy.

However, it's a waste to lighten your wallet by spending money on some useless magnets that do nothing. Instead, just send the money straight to me. I'll put it to good use AND you'll get the same improvement in fuel economy as you would have had you purchased magnets.

These things have been around a long time. Back in the 70's during the "Energy Crisis" They were for sale everywhere. I also remember a "Water Softener" version.

As for fuel economy ?????
