Ditto... Dark Forces 2 and MotS ate up quite a bit of my life when I was younger

Yes you are.yea but your not moving your head with your mouse.
Clearly it isn't a gun view because when you use iron sights your gun moves, not your view. This is because your head is still in the same place but you've moved your gun up to eye level.Your moving your aiming your gun.
Look straight ahead and push your head forward with your hand. Where does you view go? Down towards your feet, just like it does in an inverted FPS.Why does anyone want his mouse inverted?

Yea i invert my mouse : it just not normal not too (for me). I guess all those flight sims i played as kid.
What's odd though is in World of Warcraft there is an option to invert mouse and it completely throws me on a trip. My friend who also plays FPS's inverted can't stand playing WoW non inverted.
What sucks though is having a custom key config that the above buddy gave me when we started playing unreal tourny back in the day. That's the only way i can play most FPS's now.. which sucks since that guarantees that everytime i install a game i'm going to spend several minutes in the config to figure out my settings
I thought I was the only one. I play all of my FPS with inverted mouse controls but when I try to do the same thing in WoW, it throws me for a loop and feels totally foreign. Weird thing is now that I've been playing WoW so much, it feels slightly off playing FPS with inverted controls.

That does make perfect sense, however its just as "natural" not to have it inverted. Push up on your mouse and where does your cursor go? Up.
People should be able to realize that it is whatever floats your boat, which is why there has been an option to turn it on/off for as long as I can remember.

Sure, in a 2D desktop. OTOH a 3D FPS is putting you inside a body which you directly control.Push up on your mouse and where does your cursor go? Up.

The head forward/backward logic doesn't follow through with the right and left mouse movement like it does with non-inverted logic, but I understand what you guys are saying. Am I incorrect in thinking that you guys would have been better off learning non-inverted FPS aiming in the beginning?

I do. When Q1 came out, the default was inverted so I stuck with it.
That's how it started for me as well. Just got used to it over hours and hours of Quake, and now I feel lost if it's not inverted.

Er. Only for flying. I try to stick with defaults as much as I can. I sometimes change keyboard configurations to more conventional setups, if there's a need. This means I can pick up pretty much any FPS without much work, play at a friend's house, etc. It's easy to adapt to a conventional setup, so why not do it? I was smart enough to do it from the beginning. Defaults FTW.
