In all seriousness, the new beetle's are a pretty good looking car, but the last generation put such a large stigma around them when they included a built in flower vase in the dash.

Car has a manual transmission and a diesel therefore "chick car" arguments are null and void.
I personally would never buy a Beetle but if someone gave me one I'd drive it.

Not to mention the large number of accessories like daisy taillight covers, or the pastel colours it came in.

You get the car you like though. Remember that the Mazda MX-5 was thought of as a chick car for the longest time.

I hate to be "it's a chick car" person. I don't think as many exist as people propose but in the end I am sorry a convertible beetle is still a chick car. I would give a guy a pass on the hard top, they are much better then before. But a convertible beetle is where I think the line has to be drawn.

Except that the Miata ended up being the best handling car under $30k and is the most widely raced spec car in the world.

I don't think a Beetle has very much going for it, besides the TDI and the manual aspect. Sure, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it'll carry that chick stigma for a long time yet.

Wow. I didn't know this poll would be so one sided. Or at least, I hoped not. Not to worry I'll get what I want, and I think this is what I want. I still need to see it in person and drive it, a Mustang and a Miata.

I wonder how different the results would be if I listed the hardtop. I think the new version looks damn sexy, as a guy's car, in black as a hardtop. Like a TT, but even better looking.

Get a Miata if you want the best handling car you can get for the money. The Mustangs will be much faster, of course. Get the GT because the base Mustang is also a chick's car.

I'd also get the Miata instead of this just because it isn't a VW. I agree that a black Beetle with those great black classic style wheels with the center hub caps looks cool.

I saw a poll that said Miata's were voted as biggest chick car. I'd think quite a few members here have something to say about that.

I am under the impression any convertible is for chicks and any Mustang made after the Fox Body is also a chick car.

The new beetle is a bit more manly looking than the old one. A TDI beetle and a miata don't really have a lot in common other than coming in verts. If you want a 4 seater that gets good mileage the miata isn't very good for either of those. As for the mustang I don't see the v6 as a "chick car" so much anymore with the power the v6 makes. Just have to get a manual.

I used to own a 2007 Miata, and I am waiting for the 2015 ND to get my next one...

It was a great "chick car" in the sense that women loved it and never passed up a chance to go for a spin with me if the subject of what I drove ever came up.

I'd much rather have a Miata, at least it isn't wrong wheel drive.
