It's POP! Grew up in Iowa, live in California now.

My wife calls it coke, which I think is silly. Coke is a specific brand.

"What kind of coke do you want? Pepsi." WHAT?! That doesn't make any sense.

I'm in Atlanta now and these "people" call it soda. I'm from Metro Detroit and I've always called it pop!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing when I saw this thread. I've had business associates take jabs at my coworkers about their Southern accents and then have them turn around and say the word pop in the most nasaly-strained accent imaginable. And here in Alabama most people usually just lump everything together under the broad category of "coke." However, I usually say "soda" or the drink's actual name.

When referring to the drink I usually call it soda. But when I refer to the machine I call it a pop machine.

Pop, Nova Scotia Canada. If somebody offered me a soda I would assume they meant cream-soda. The red colored pop.

I say "cola" btw, or if it's not a cola I'll just call it whatever it is "Want a Sprite, how about a Mountain Dew? Coke no Pepsi!"

Soda, because POP just sounds odd, perhaps even gay. I'm living in FL and hardly ever hear someone say "pop".
