Saw an interesting op/Ed, might have been on CNN, that basically said if you can afford to just slap a 55 cent first class stamp on your ballot envelope and it will pretty much ensure your vote gets there on time. All of the discussion around delayed voting and whatnot is because ballots go out with third class postage prepaid and delivery on those can be up to two weeks. First class postage is just a couple of days and a first class stamp will override the third class prepaid.

Good plan-assuming you receive your ballot in time. And give it plenty of time, because even first class mail is moving much slower than normal now. If it gets close to the election, I suggest driving it to the local drop off box-no interaction with any potential covid carriers need be risked.

It's probably a good idea to slap a stamp on mailing in the ballot anyway, because many state's laws look at the postmark to determine whether a ballot is received in time. First class mail is (usually) postmarked, third class mail rarely, if ever.

Pretty sad that the average person has to lawyer up in order to vote this year.

I'm feeling 100% better about my state's election protocols now. WTG Andy & Mike!

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Kentucky's Democratic governor and Republican elections chief unveiled a plan Friday that will allow mail-in voting in the November general election and expanded early voting in person.

The deal struck between Secretary of State Michael Adams and Gov. Andy Beshear lets anyone who wants to request an absentee ballot do so, citing health or age concerns – such as those related to COVID-19.

People who want to vote in person will be able to cast ballots weeks before the Nov. 3 election at locations in each Kentucky county, according to the plan.

I'm concerned about the election.

Sure, I'll roll in to a haphazardly thrown together polling place manned by confused election volunteers. Will social distance protocols be in place? Enforced? Masks required? Enforced?

I'm 60 years old in a wheelchair due to my MS.

I'm also very concerned about NOT DYING FROM COVID-19.
I was thinking about voting by mail for the 1st time but now it's looking like that's problematic at this point, at 63
and with asthma I'm already in the high risk group if I encounter coronavirus. Fuck it, I'll go in person, I'd wait until hell froze over to cast my vote against this scumbag. I regret that I have but one vote to cast.
I also would rather vote by mail but there is no way in hell I'm going to chance it now. I guess it's our turn to (unnecessarily) risk our lives for democracy like many before us.

One good thing to come out of the last 3 1/2 years of chaos though. Their actions have guaranteed I will never vote for a republican as long as I suck air. They can no longer be trusted in power.

I was glad to see that too. Seemed to go smoothly with the primaries, hopefully they'll be able to have enough poll workers to cover those who don't vote by mail.

Trump and the RNC will sue for sure.

Trump is complaining about ballot drop boxes now. I hope Republicans hear him and don't send in their ballots.

I'm planning on making an appointment with my county clerk for an in-person vote.

Remember when some conservatives were saying that “delay the election” was an impeachable offense? That was like 5 clusterfucks ago and now it’s hardly on our mind.

The problem with trying to counter Trump is that he careens from one clusterfuck to another and you can never pause long enough to properly castigate him. He’s like a 5-year-old rampaging through your house; while you’re getting after him for knocking the lamp over he’s using crayons on the wall. In the middle of telling him he’s punished he’s hammering nails into the dining room table. While you contemplate how many weeks his time-out will be he’s setting fire to the drapes.

Probably? It hasn't stopped Trump and RNC from suing California and Nevada over the sametype of thing recently.
I wonder if those two states had bipartisan sponsorship of the newly created policy...

Yea, great point, just last week he was getting hammered for doing nothing about our soldiers in Afghanistan having a bounty on their head by Putin, as horrible as that is it's apparently slipped by the wayside in the ongoing douche-fest this administration generates.

Postmaster General DeJoy must have learned from the master of the con himself. Run the Post Office into the ground while making untold millions with his investments in companies that compete with the Postal Service. Actually it's almost petty theft compared to how Trump has looted the national treasury with his golf trips and all the money that has gone to his crony friends' companies. "DeJoy and his wife, Aldona Wos, have significant investments in companies that do business with or compete with the Postal Service. According to disclosures filed with the Office of Government Ethics, the couple hold between $30.1 million and $75.3 million in such investments, mostly in XPO Logistics, where DeJoy was a director until 2018." https://www.yahoo.com/news/postmaster-general-louis-dejoy-121911696.html

Of course. Overtly corrupt, deliberately incompetent and antagonistic towards the service he's in charge of.

Exactly what's to be expected. Par for the course for a conservative.

Demanding that the senate majority leader somehow stop hearings in a house that his party doesn't control really shows how far Trump's grasp of how the government functions has come.

I resemble that remark, went to UU as a kid. their youth group was a blast
Man your parents were hard core Uni's. I did not know there was such a thing. I went a few times as basically an atheist with kids routine. Was raised as a Methodist and technically still a member.

See. this yet?

From the article:
“Postal Employees are prohibited from serving as witnesses in their official capacity while on duty, due in part to the potential operational impacts,” Bentley wrote.

What other parts could there be? [rhetorical question]

Seriously, though, this whole shebang is worse than murder in broad daylight on fifth avenue.

Reports that House Republicans will whip votes against a postal bill.

Going on the record that you are helping the president disrupt maybe the most important government service to R rural constituents is certainly a choice.

Rural Republican House members will probably see a bounce in their constituent approval ratings.

I'm not sure why anyone believes that they're going to be punished for their clear counter-productive actions. They never have been.

Not everywhere is the same. Something like this could definitely influence the statewide races for senate in say Iowa or Montana. The party shouldn’t be doing this but it is.
