I doubt it. I have a Bachelor of Elective Studies. It's not hard to figure out what school I went to if you search for the degree. LOL. The main requirements of the degree are:

- Completion of a minimum of 120 semester credit hours with at least a 2.0 grade point average

- At least 45 semester credit hours of upper division (300/400) level courses

- No more than 60 semester credits can be earned in any one discipline.

You can select a major or minor under the BES, but I did not.

Why did you get such a useless degree? I don't understand why people are studying when they don't even have an idea of what they want to do.

I was working towards Criminal Justice. My GPA wasn't good enough to get into the program and I left school with 106 credits. I returned 3 years later to finish my 120 credits and get the BES to have the degree when getting into law enforcement. I didn't get into law enforcement...so it was all for not.

degrees are worth a crap if it gets you a job you like or at least offers you a decent lifestyle.
I just work construction with no degree, i live typical middleclass but its rather sad some of the guys i've seen work with me that have 2 and 4 year degrees in something.

This response is for naught.

Liberal arts degrees are for the extremely wealth or the extremely stupid.

Honours Bachelor of Arts in History & Political Science. It certainly hasn't made me any money. Went back for a journalism degree, then the media industry crashed. I think I must have been someone evil in a past life for the luck I'm having.

For a lot of jobs, they don't care so much about what you studied, just that you have a degree. So if it makes you feel better, your degree does give you an edge over a good chunk of the population.

And I thought my friends with PoliSci and Psychology undergrad degrees were wasting their time. Your degree makes them look like geniuses. I've never heard of such wasteful nonsense.

Degrees like that are to supplement useful degrees.

Do you sit down for dinner to a plate of A1? No. You fucking have a steak and you put A1 on it.

I was in the same boat.

I started out with a degree in Industrial Design that is absolutely useless in Canada because we don't have an industry in manufacturing. My second degree is Computer Science and that got me work, but it is the type of work that is as interesting as a desk cop or a pencil pusher government clerk. I'm now working in construction with much weaker apply skills as other trades people my age, but my ability to learn & reason (due to many years of schooling) allows me to work in areas that requires more thinking process than manual labour.

IMHO, education is not all lost, it will permeate to what ever you do.

No certainly. My history and poli sci gives me insight into why news events are happening. I've become far more technical than I thought I would be.

One of my former students is majoring in film studies. Unless Siskel or Ebert die, I can't figure out what you would do with such a degree. "you'll study film history, theory, and criticism, as well as the basics of film production."
