I guess They promote theft by not supplying you with books, paper, and pencils, right?

Legit. Why bother with illegit copies when I get can get a copy of XP Pro for _free_ from the campus computing services? The student version of XP Pro doesn't even require activation.

RedHat Linux 7.3

Possibly legit (not sure about licensing):
Solaris 8 (not running at the moment anyhow and will be replaced if I keep the box).

Not legit but not in use:
Windows 2000

Legit but not in use:
Windows 98se
Windows 98se Compaq restore disc

Unless you have a box with 8+ CPU's you're fine

WinXP Pro and 4 systems with Win2K, all legal here. Several legal copies of Win98 also, but those systems are no longer in use.

Forgot to add Windows NT 4 SP6 legit (on the DEC Alpha) and RedHat Linux 7.1 legit (also on the Alpha.) Haven't used either in over a year...that machine is just collecting dust until I invest in a KVM switch. Maybe I should sell it to one of you distributed computing nuts.

Specs:

- Digital PWS 433a (Miata platform)
- 433 MHz 21164 Alpha AXP 64bit Processor
- 2MB L3 cache <-- pwns distributed computing??
- 256MB ECC EDO memory
- integrated 10/100 Ethernet by DEC (EV6 bus)
- integrated Adaptec UltraWide SCSI (EV6 bus)
- PCI64 Matrox Millenium II graphics
- Dual 9.1GB UltraSCSI LVD drives (one for NT, one for Linux)
- 8x SCSI CD-ROM
- 1.44MB floppy

Macromedia has 30-day trial downloads for that reason.
Unfortunately, my 70+ hour/6 days-a-week day job doesn't leave me much time to learn DreamWeaver, Flash, Fireworks, Freehand, and ColdFusion in 30 days (oh and the version of ColdFusion I have is legit since Macromedia gives it away for free.)

You dont have to do them all concurrently

anyway...

illegit is NOT a word. you either mean illigitimate, or illicit.

And all my operating systems are legal.

ilegit is more of a slang word..... get off your little high horse buddy

I have legal copies of every OS made by Microsoft through XP Pro, minus Win2k datecenter or what ever the top one is.

Right now mine isn't legit, but I own a legit copy.
When I installed my LEGIT copy it said I couldn't activate it because it had already been activated yadda yadda.
To heck with that I say...

oh, if we're supposed to list everything we have on cd, then:

mandrake 8.1
redhat 7.1
redhat 8
old debian woody cd's
official debian 3.0 cd
freebsd 4.7
netbsd 1.5
netbsd 1.6
qnx (4?? 6?? dunno, dont remember)

those are all legal, win2k is not paid for and in use, got a win98 iso tarred up on a cd and will probably never be used, but its there.
