Original post: I bought crappy Dunlop tires from Tire Rack. Very noisy and high vibration. I figured I would just have to live with it since tires are expensive, but I'm wondering if I should bite the rubber bullet and get new ones. What would you do? BTW, I could probably stay with the bad tires for about two more years before they wear out.

Read the reviews at above link for a description of this tire's crappiness. I bought them before the bad reviews started showing. BTW, other than selling these tires, Tire Rack is  so I would buy from them again.
Gee, a bunch of idiots bought high-performance tires for family sedans and then complained about harsh ride and noise. Dumbasses.

High-performance tires are going to be noisy. They are going to give a harsh ride. That's the price you pay for grip.

I can _guarantee_ that the Kumhos, which are touring and not high-performace, will be nowhere near as grippy or predictable on a sports car.

You're following the same exact path I followed. The 2 reasons I switched from the RE950's is the price and winter handling. The RE950's are a perfect 3 season tire, nothing beats the RE950 tires in rain. It's like it isn't raining. The problem is it's snow handling leaves much to be desired.

The Traction T/A tires I replaced it with are a great 4 season tire. It has way better snow handling. The rainy weather traction isn't as good as the RE950's but it's not a huge difference and these tires were over $100 cheaper for the set of 4.

The BFGoodrich Traction T/A are awesome tires. I am going to go with those after I'm done with the Bridgestone Potenza RE950 I have on right now, an equally imporessive tire.

To the OP what is the tiresize you are looking to buy for?

Try to get the wheels rebalanced..you should not be getting vibration unless you wheels are not balanced...you have flat spot from skidding..or your wheel bearings are going bad..

Yeah, but look what you got. 2nd tier brand Grand Touring A/S in 175/65HR14 (going off the price you quoted). $60/ea. mounted and balanced for that size, performance type, and brand is nothing special.
The year-round tires on my car are Toyo Ultra High Performance A/S in 225/45ZR17 that I got for $450 mounted/balanced/warrantied. Do you think you got a better deal simply because you paid less?

Tires are the single most important safety item on your car, and the second most important maintenance item (after oil). While value is always important, I recommend not skimping and buying the cheapest tires out there.

Ya, the only thing I'd wish for from the Traction T/A is that they'd have a more interesting sidewall, and a lip/rim guard on 55 or lower profiles, like the RE950s do. 205/55/16 RE950's have lip gaurds while 205/55/16 Traction T/A's don't. Maybe I could contact BFG and ask thim about this.
