NY.
Not even close.
They are just different, but if I was picking I wouldn't think twice, New York, New York.
In California, if you want snow in winter, we drive about thirty minutes to the local hills or a couple of hours to championship ski areas. When you're tired of being cold and wet, you drive home, and it doesn't follow you. One of the California state mottos is, "Snow is something you visit."
I'm an electronic design engineer, and when I'm focused on a project, I feel a strong energy buzz, which is OK, as long as I can use it to do good, creative work. I've spent more than enough time in NYC, and the whole place feels like it has that same energy buzz, and it isn't focused. It's just there, and it really makes me nervous.
I have friends in NYC. I enjoy myself when I'm there (preferably NOT in winter), and I'm always glad when I leave. New York takes itself far too seriously.
If LA was as cold as NYC there would be no reason to got there.Originally posted by: lager
LA only has advantage with NY because of weather.
If LA was as cold as NY, this vote would be unanimous.
I bet you have no problem scoring Dope and Hookers there too!Originally posted by: dwell
NYC kicks the shiz out of LA in every conceivable way. LA is just a flat wasteland full of foney, shallow people (not everyone?s like that, but enough are to make it a problem). NYC keeps it real. Every borough, every block, has its own individual style and flavor. You can live in NYC all you life and still never tap 10% of what it has to offer.
I will tell you a story. It was 8:00am Christmas morning. I was driving through Chelsea on my way to the West Side Drive to go to my parents house. I passed a gay porn video store. It was open. I said to myself, "I am glad I live in a city where if you wanted to, you can buy gay porn on Christmas morning."Originally posted by: Red Dawn

Try living in Boston where you can't even buy a 6 pack of Beer on Sunday!Originally posted by: dwell

You can probably do the same in LA but the point is, there are some places you can't do anything after 8:00 on a weeknight. NYC is always happening.

But you are from northern CA, to let other people in on some CA attitudes people in northern CA hate, perhaps even loathe southern CA, and in particular LA. I lived in northern CA for a couple years, and everyone would ask "what do people in LA think about us?"
I would answer truthfully "They dont"
I think that Northern CA is beautiful, however allot of the people there do suck, snobish and take themselves far too seriously.
But not you Red
