Given that the military would stay out of it... would probably be which side had the most corrupted police force.

Not that it would ever happen but still.

The military would be deployed to quell insurrections, as per the Insurrection Act. Basically it would aim to stop everyone from fighting, but I'm certain that one side would be dealt with much more severely than the other.

Ever wonder how far you might get in life if you dropped the self-imposed "victim" routine? You know, the dogma that's been bred into you that "the man" has his foot on your neck?

Thinking you'd somehow fare better as the result of a Civil War is really absurd. Wishing extreme violence against those you deem your enemies makes the phrase "Sieg Heil" come to mind.

I do find the thinking of the new left, that being "victory at any cost", to be reminiscent of earlier times. Jackboots, pulling people from their homes in the night, rounding up those that are enemies of the state and so on.

History is easily repeated when it's not taught.

The ops question is pretty absurd since only a small portion of both sides are the "crazies" the vast majority of people on both sides are, what's that word I am looking for, oh yeah sane.

With that said, I do know quite a few on the left who own firearms but come on its not even a comparison to the guns/gun owners on the right. Then again, necessity has a hell of a way of changing peoples opinion and if such a thing happened the rich would have no problem selling arms to either side. In the end the same people who always win would come out on top, the elite.

I think it would be a 1 day battle with the right winning. It wouldn't even get to a point where resources, education, or money mattered. Texas would take California by lunch time. Southern states on the other side would have New York in tears by Dinner.

You will have to define in some specificity what is conservative and what is liberal. If anything this election taught us is that there are deep chasms between the varying strands of conservatism. For example, it seems rather clear that the new right is not very amenable, if not downright hostile, to free-market and free-trade.

Same goes for the liberals, to a lesser degree. There appear to be a deepening divide between the "traditional" left and the "Neoliberal." (although I am unsure what the latter exactly means)

If the righties send out their voting enforcement goon squads stationed at the polls, especially stationed at minority polling locations, then we could see that civil war happening.
The republicans did exactly this same thing back in the 1980's and were sued by the democrats. Republicans were found guilty of harassing and of voter intimidation at the polls and were legally banned by the court from pulling similar stunts for years to come.
That ban expires next year in 2017 unless republicans are caught once again pulling this same voter intimidation stunt.

Well.... Donald Trump has indeed been telling his people go to polls and intimidate voters, especially in the minority polling areas, and the democrats have already began another lawsuit in court.
For democrats to win that suit, that ban against republicans would be extended many more years to come far past 2017.

In short, you do not send goons to the polls on election day to intimidate, harass, or deter voters from voting.
Now..... someone should tell that to Donald Trump.
Trump is going to screw it up for republicans, but Trump doesn't care. It won't affect him. After losing, Trump will be long gone and forgotten. The GOP will still be paying the price for Donald Trump for years and years to come.

If the Right was ever Forced to fight: 20% of the Right could take out 50-60% percent of the best of the Left--the Most Violent, scummy, criminal Types in 24-48 hours. You wouldn't know what hit you.
