The answer to all of this is answered by asking this one set of questions: Who, at this very moment, is actually wishing for this war to happen and who among us are itching, are fully armed, and are ready and able to go for it no questions asked.

You are positing about the right and left fighting in a civil war, but you are forgetting that the right has also declared war on the state.

Someone linked me this on reddit in the last few days, it is actually a pretty good video. Its not the full picture, and it is somewhat dwelling in excessive cynical paradox, and is only painting a partial picture of democracy, and in a way even whitewashing it, but it is still a good video to watch regardless.

That was a nice easy way to not get involved too much in the question. Here is what I believe will happen:
Hillary wins and the republicans will be vocal about their disdain, then go back to working on what their strategy for the next election will be. Trump may throw a temper tantrum.
Trump wins and the democrats go ape shit and start rioting, looting and burning property, like spoiled toddlers. Their behavior is well documented through this election process. Think they'll suddenly get a whiff of some class and good behavior?

I guess we'll find out if I'm right, either way.

I feel you're reaching a bit with this one. I'm in a fairly liberal town and by and large everyone here held soldiers in high regard while simultaneously holding Bush in low regard for his decision to go to war in Iraq.

Thank you for that link. Kind of makes me wonder why it is called "Neoliberal," instead of "Libertarian" or "Lessaiz-faire." What is the dividing characteristics, if there is any?

Shrug, I doubt that we will ever see tanks rolling down main street of an American city. It's one thing to leave a foreign country in shambles and then slowly and badly rebuild them but it's another thing to to fuckup a state to prevent them from leaving the union in this modern era. If you "win" you'd have to spend an absurd amount of money to pretty much support everyone and rebuild the states that you just blew up.

That's not even mentioning how necessary some a lot of states are to the country despite them being red/blue or "net contributors" to the federal budget. I'm sure there are a lot of others but two I know offhand are Louisiana and Texas who provide and control a ridiculous amount of the nations energy and the infrastructure simply doesn't exist in the rest of the country to replace it. Heck just the LOOP in Louisiana and all of the connecting infrastructure would take forever to replace even if a location was immediately picked and no one at all bitched or tried to stop it. If terrorists really wanted to hurt us taking out the LOOP would probably be the absolute best way to do it with rather minimal resources.

California's ports and produce are another example and I'm sure there are dozens more. We are just too interconnected and dependent upon each other. Any sort of "rebellion" would be a few nutjobs who would be put down very quickly using non-military, well at least not actual US military, forces.

In a nation as diverse....and more importantly, as divided as the US is right now...with agitators ("politicians") who just LOOOVE to agitate the two "sides" against each other, up until total mass-hysteria, I am afraid that any unrest would have much bigger potential than simply "a few nutjobs rioting" here and there.

Trump for example would have the money and his supporters are big in numbers and nuts and motivated enough...they could indeed cause a "problem" which I actually predict to happen. I don't think a Trump win on the other hand would cause equal unrest "among the left", there I'd rather see the occasional/or even frequent unrest/riots etc...but not at a magnitude that I could see coming from the Right. Whether "the Right" would "win" is another story tho. Ultimately I'd say no, in the same way as the South didn't win last time. Simply because they're (after all), even if they won't believe it, a minority against a majority who doesn't share their views.
