I had to read through and make sure no one else brought this up. I have been waiting a long time for this thread.

I once read an article about some college students who sent in a description of a new chemical to the FDA. They provided a very thorough analysis of the substances effect on the human body. Things about liver/brain damage and impaired senses along with vomitting and such. Obviously the substance in question was drinking alchohol. (Forget if thats cetyl or methyl alchohol)
They went out of their way not to be too obvious as to what the substance really was and even submitted data on unconfirmed nutritional value.

When asked if the chemical could be put on the market, the FDA came back with a forceful "NO". Am not sure if the college students ever revealed the substance as booze.

Now, this whole article may have been internet legend. Heck I dont think the FDA is really that stupid. But the issue is still in my head. I can infer one of two things here:
1- The FDA is way too darn paranoid about drugs being available to the general public (you and I). They also have too much control.
2- Alchohol really is bad stuff. All these years of drunken vehicular manslaugter and domestic violence havent taught us anything as a society. Of course, we all know what happens when we try to make it illegal.

lol, you think this idea is new?

The pro-pot people use this often. The anti-pot people are either hypocrites and choose to ignore it, or are at least consistant and agree that alcohol should be against the law too.

Which is a viewpoint I don't agree with at all. If I can't smoke pot, drink alcohol or do anything else to myself that I want to, then I am not truely free.

Yeah. the difference is, mouthwash is ethyl so it doesnt kill you. rubbing alcohol (iso) does.

MJ for sure. When I was smoking/ingesting on a regular basis, I hardly ever drank. Waking up the next morning with hangovers suck big time. I don't wake up with a "pot hangover". Just give me some weed and a picther of iced tea.

BTW, my current job does not allow me to smoke anymore. I guess they would rather me come in and feel like sh!t rather than me come in fresh. There are just some evenings that I have to "chill" out after a harrassing day.
