Poll: mech4 argh

i bought a asus7700 yesterday. all the games run perfectly... i downloaded mechwarrior4 the same day. my problem is: when i am in the game [doesnt matter where... the menu or the game itself] my screen stops working... my monitor suddenly says it has lost its signal from the vid-card. he game goes on.... i can hear the sounds.. and when i press the fire button i hear myself shooting..

well... you might be thinking i bought a busted v7700 but all the other games are running perfectly

ow yeah... when i press reset it is like nothing happened... everything looks perfect again.... i can even play mech4 again.. till my screen goes blank.

btw... mech4 is my only directx8 game.. but i have had dx8 from when it was released... im using nvidia 6.49 drivers.. in win98se

That has nothing to do with a "..a busted v7700..", it has to do with your refresh rate is set too higher for your monitor. You need to set the refresh rate for Direct3D applications down to around 75 or 85Hz.

but it stops working i the middle of the game.. not when i start or something... even in the menu... that has nothing to do with d3d

I received the full version for Christmas and its working perfectly. I have a Hercules GeForce2 GTS Pro 64MB and am running the Detonator 6.35 drivers. The readme is explicit about the need for the latest Direct X 8 drivers for Video and sound. Make sure you have drivers compatable with the Direct X.

i had it clocked at 220/360 for a benchmark and i forgot to put it back. i think it was the memory that couldn't make it. so i tried it at default and i havent had 1 of those stick-ups yet... im gonna try 210/350 now..
