I think you're right. The &quot;once you go black...&quot; is maybe from JUNGLE FEVER, then... also a Wesley Snipes flick. I guess he has some &quot;black is better&quot; issues.

Uhhh... but WWW sucked.

BTW, WWW was awful because of the script for the most part. But something also has to be said for Will's performance, he didn't fit the role well and maybe the part was not within his range.


Anyway, NO. Bond should remain white. That's the way he was written in Flemming's books, and that's the way he should stay. Sure, many black actors would do a great job from an acting standpoint (L. Fishburne comes to mind because of his polished, distinguished nature). But it wouldn't be true to the nature of the character, it wouldn't be Bond.

Hey, here's an idea. They could match Bond up with a partner (a new 006) who's black... Brosnan matched with Fishburne would be an interesting pairing.


Edit: I've got an idea... they could say 006 is from S. Africa and recently joined the British SS, he could have this &quot;chip&quot; on his shoulder and more attitude than Bond (always trying to show Bond up and dealing with situations a bit more harshly). Damn, it would be funny, kinda like rip-off of &quot;DieHard With a Vengence&quot; but with an international flair. Hmmmm...

Chow Yun Fat would make a good James Bond type character (too bad his English is so poor). But I think James Bond should probably stay white. Just like Shaft should stay a black character.

Wild Wild West wasn't that bad. Did it live up its hype no. But I didn't think it sucked either. If nothing else the honey was banging. I forget her name, but smooth none the less.

Denzel Washington is the only person I can think of offhand that could pull off a black Bond, IMO.

If there is a black James Bond they should get an unknown British actor. Not an already famous actor. In some of the recent Bond films (with Pierce Bronsnan) there was a tall English black guy that worked with Bond -- he looked like he could fit the part.
