I think both are great, but I love Kaspersky. Let me tell you, it slaps around McAfee and Norton easily.

After reading Newegg reviews, message boards and searching the internet in general, I have found hundreds of reviews comparing either Nod32 or Kaspersky to virtually every other AV on the market, and yet, I never see them compared to each other by average users. I wonder if this is because they are both so good and pretty much equal, that once people happen to use one, they are very satisfied and never see any reason to try the other one.?!
do you have link? it did same thing to me, i fixed it by resetting the sidebar cache by hand, and restoring default. still i am afraid to load the news gadget in fear it will crash again.Originally posted by: CrimsonWolf
I have Nod32 on my laptop. I used to have Nod32 on my desktop, but decided to try out Kaspersky.
I don't think it matters for most users. (Especially performance wise, I would never know the difference. Then again both computers are at least dual-core with oodles of ram.)
Testing usually shows Kaspersky to have a stonger detection rates than Nod32. This is what lead me to try them out, along with their extremely prompt detection file updates. But, the flip side is that false positives pop up every now and then with Kaspersky. Usually they are just minor annoyances. Small price to pay for solid security.
Though, when I installed IE8, Kaspersky blocked the registration of a file and wound up jacking up my Vista x64 sidebar. The sidebar would always crash. I thought it was a problem with IE8, but after digging the problem was with Kaspersky and eventually found a fix on their forums. It wasted a solid hour of time and if something like this happens again it'll make me think twice about renewing my license. Other than that though, it has been great.
I guess just go for whatever is cheaper.

1) Kaspersky blocks the jscript.dll from being registered for the x64 system.
2) Turn off Kaspersky and go to an elevated command prompt (Run as Admin) then simply type in:
3) regsvr32 jscript.dll
4) You are done, this registers the dll and fixes the shit Kaspersky blocked.
5) Don't come here for support on anything more advanced then walking down the avenue.
