Poll: NV20 to cost $500

"x-bit labs has published their monthly hardware overview for December. They take a look at what's been going on in the processor and 3D graphics marekts specifically. Here's a tidbit on the NV20:

>Most probably the new NV20 chip will be called GeForce3 and its announcement will take place in February. But the leading graphics cards manufacturers will receive the first samples before the end of this year. As for the price, it doesn't seem that exorbitant in comparison to GeForce2 Ultra. The expected price for boards based on NV20 that will be manufactured by all the leading graphics card makers including ASUS, Creative and Hercules is around $500. Besides, NVIDIA plans to release a cheaper solution based on the architecture of NV20 and known under a code name NV17. This chipset is expected to come out a bit later, in spring, and boards based on it will cost about $400.>"


I almost paide $500 for my monitor but I dont plan to replace it in 6 months (or a year or 2!).

Just what will drive its price down? Lack of demand? ATi (insert joke)?

I voted no....and they can't say that the ultra will be cheaper then, so people can get that...because I have a V5 now, if I'm gonna upgrade so soon I'm not spending more than $300. And given that the Ultra isn't that much faster, it wouldn need to have ALOT more features than my current card for me to get it, which it certainly doesn't.

I just got out of college and have a good job. I'm ready for $500 video boards. heh

I'm ready and able but not willing.

I wont buy a nex gen card till it hits below $300. I paid $227 for my GTs the 3rd week it came out

Or else how could it be worth $500?
