Pretty much every president, save for a very select few, are the same: they don't do what they campaigned on, they don't do any real or lasting good, they "fix" the fucks up of the guy before them and create their own fuck ups for the next guy to "fix".

Obama is in a unique position. Rigid obstructionism from Congress, massive economic fallout from 30 years of poor economic policy, and he has didn't have enough experience to cope with it. I think Obama in 2016 or 2020 would have been a much better President. He clearly understands (more importantly appreciates) the struggles of the country, he doesn't know, yet, how to properly address and solve them.

I think what the poll really shows is the country is currently extremely dissatisfied with government for which Obama is only a small piece.

Because no one knows anything about earlier presidents. This poll was asked of the general public.

I would venture to guess that few of the general public were alive (or at least at an age where they cared) pre-WW2. So asking the general public about presidents that they likely had first hand knowledge of makes sense. What wouldn't make sense is asking the general public about presidents that they learn about in history books and have no idea what it was like during their terms in office.

Even with that, I don't remember anyone saying he was a worse President than Carter. Yes, many said Carter's character was better than Clinton's character and I'd agree with that.

If I had to choose any President to have a beer with, Clinton would be the guy. He'd probably know all the great strip clubs too.

Clinton always seemed to be a very interesting guy. Not that I agreed with all of his politics or decisions. But I always felt that there was enough in common to agree or disagree from mutually understandable positions. And I admired the way that he could dialogue with people that had positions very different than his own.

I suspect that history is going to be very kind to Bill Clinton.

Bush and Obama both are really bad presidents for completely different reasons. Both had a few good things done, but the bad outweighs the good.
