It was plenty deep. A little too deep. The Matrix, opened a lot of questions, brought up a lot of new ideas, said a lot of things.
Reloaded and Revolutions opened up even more questions, threw in a bunch of babble in a poor attempt to answer some, then just closed the book.

Reminded me of a high school term paper, where the whole thing leads up to a point, but then the kid writing it got tired of dragging it on, then thought about how long the explination would be, so the last page has like a 3 sentence paragraph that tries to wrap everything all at once while trying to still sound sophisticated.

I couldn't put it any better than Mr. Aftermath here has... I'm glad I know how it ends and what everything and everyone in the Matrix means and sh!t because I've been anticipating it since the first Matrix. Since it's supposed to be a conclusion to the trilogy, it should answer more questions than it raises. I understand what the Matrix and Zion are, their purpose to both man and machine, and how they work to serve their purpose. Smith's purpose is to balance the anomoly in the equation Neo creates, and once his task is finished (taking over Neo) his program is terminated and that's how Smith is defeated right? OK if what I said is right then I understand that part of it.

But in The Matrix, the whole idea was to free Neo, who is the one, so that he could destroy the machines and free the rest of the people in the Matrix so they can live in Zion happily, without the threat of machines coming to kill them. But then in Revolutions Smith is revealed as an enemy to both humans in the Matrix and the machines running it. So instead of freeing humanity and destroying the Matrix and the machines that run it, Neo just kills Smith, and because of this machines and humans are able to live without war now? The architect said people would be released from the Matrix if they so desired to be. What if everybody wanted to be free and the machines lose their primary source of power? And what happened to the whole Zion being destroyed to save the rest of humanity idea? Wasn't it supposed to be rebuilt by Neo and 21 (not sure of the number) and act as a "recycling bin" for people who aren't compatible with the Matrix until somebody else comes along and the whole shabang happens again (Zion destroyed and rebuilt, new version of the Matrix is implemented)? Or was Zion AND humanity both saved because Neo sacrificed himself to defeat Smith? In any case, the war is over and Zion is not destroyed by the machines, nor the Matrix destroyed by the humans, so what? They live happily ever after together on the same planet, machines getting the surface, humans getting Zion near the core? And after Smith was defeated, the machines stopped attacking Zion simply because Neo asked for peace? With Neo and Smith both out of the picture and Zion's defences decimated beyond use, why don't the Machines just finished what they started and destroy Zion?

Lots of questions, I know. But I would like to comprehend everything...

Should add.. "Great movie, ending sucked..."
I still say it ended the only way it could. How would you have liked to see it end then?
By Neo breaking the cycle, and ultimately leading the humans to victory over the machines.
Okay. And you expect to see this how? The scale in task and time would be way too big to stuff into anything short of a TV mini-series, IMO
