and certainly wouldn't hide behind "I'll do whatever the committee wants me to do".

That shit really pissed me off because the process was obviously a sham. He knows the BS the Republicans are pulling. While he claims he wants fairness, the sexual assault victims coming forward certainty weren't getting it.

Kavanaugh demonstrated clearly yesterday that he is unfit to hold any judgeship. He is a conspiracy mongering partisan hack. He hasn't earned anything but the contempt of honest folk.

I believe he demonstrated a sincere desire for truth, a conviction for his good name, and a forthright demeanor, if not aggression, towards his name being slandered. All qualities we all should strive for.

It's just too bad it has to come at the expense of a potential victom...

You know she is a private citizen and not a political actor right? Whereas Kavanaugh is a GOP soldier through and through.

Kavanaugh sucks no doubt and it will be bad for the country if he is voted onto the SC but I also think the entire process is unfair to any nominee for SC.

That doesn't make much sense to me. A person who is looking to stand as one of the highest-ranking judges in a country is not interested in seeing a potential victim's case thoroughly looking into? Such a person is supposed to be entirely about principle, not for achieving a rank of office. You wouldn't expect such a person to say that their appointment should be delayed pending an investigation? Would you want to be that person who will now forever be looked at as one who valued personal ambition more than justice, despite the fact that justice is supposed to be part of your job description?

The process is not intended to be fair. It is a test of a person's personality. It is intended to push a person and see what they are made of. It is only under stress that we can see the true mettle of a person's personality.

He spouted off on a deranged Clinton conspiracy theory and threatened the Senators, actually threatened the Senators. At any other time in our nation's history, the committee chair would have at least raised the possibility of a contempt charge.

When you're being defamed, the last thing you do is give into the demands of dishonest inquisitors.

What happened to Garland doesn't come close to what you guys have done to Kavanaugh. The only just end to this is his confirmation. Democrats have earned that for him. God knows he's earned it.
Nice of you to accuse Ford of making up a lie in 2013 just to get Kavanaugh

He said this is a witch hunt from Dems because they’re pissed about losing the election. Not a conspiracy theory about the clintons and they’re only mentioned because she was the candidate.

It is entirely within the realm that Ford is misremembering or intentionally lying, but I can’t think of a single benefit to her in doing so. She will almost certainly suffer personal, and possibly professional repercussions for her testimony even if no one accused her of being a “scorned woman”, and Kavanaugh’s belligerent denial looked less like innocent indigence than aggressive defense by a cornered animal. And regardless of this particular testimony, his previous lies under oath, his nutty conspiracys and losing his temper should have already disqualified him from being confirmed.

EDIT : One more dishonest Kavanaugh tactic that bears mentioning:

They dug up some random Twitter user's insane ramblings and interviewed Kavanaugh about it even though no one else had raised it. Then Kavanaugh used that as proof that the Senate Democrats were conspiring against him. It was a total lie.

With Flake voting yes with the explanation that there just is not enough evidence on either side, it becomes clear that the Republicans only held this hearing so that they could say that they addressed the situation. They don’t want an investigation because they don’t care about the truth; they just wanted to be able to say that they looked into it but there was just not enough evidence. That is why they are ignoring the other allegations. On the one hand, I feel sorry for Ford being used as a pawn by the Republicans like this but on the other hand I am reassured that she got to tell her story and a lot of people believe and support her.

What a shameful, depressing chapter in the diahrhea dump of trumpisim.

Sloppy with a room-clearing, wallpaper peeling stench. The guy should never have been put up, paraded like a game show winner on prime time, to feed the loathsome base before the mid-terms.

He's a lying partisan with a vindictiveness he couldn't even conceal for two weeks during his hearing, haha. He'll be fine I'm sure.

I really, really need November to restore some faith in America.

I felt another big one was his childish insistence that "the committee" could get to the conclusion, when he knows full well it's a sham run by completely corrupt and craven partisans and definitely not fair to Ford or the other accusers.

What about being fair to Kavanaugh? Guilty until proven innocent and based on nothing more than an accusation on something that there is no way to prove one way or the other that he may or may not have done back in high school. Yeah, fair.

Being fair to Kavanaugh means that he would be stripped of his current judgeship as his disgusting display of partisan hackery and promotion of ridiculous conspiracy theories clearly demonstrate that he is unfit for the bench.

So, all the lies, non answers, and conspiracies in his hearings shouldn't matter?

We're being more than fair to Kavanaugh. He's not entitled to a seat to the highest court. There are many out there that do not have these issues in their background.

Uh, yes there are. She could be honestly mistaken.

Unlikely. Tramautic experiences leave accurate and long lasting images. This a reason why PTSD exists, as things that happened decades ago can surface with the same impact as if they happened yesterday.
