I have several machines running on 1 to 192Mb of RAM. 192Mb is in my main home-computer running linux and I actually don't need that much, even VMWare doesn't use up all that. Dunno does Windozez really need that much (256+Mb) RAM just for running everyday apps and do some gaming ? I've got W2k booting with 16Mb RAM on 486...
128 Mb - Kingston PC100 - paid about $39.99 + tax after onvia rebate
128 Mb - PNY PC100 - paid about $156 almost 2 years ago (ouch!!!)
32 Mb - Compaq PC100 - removed other 32 Mb after I got the Kingston, gave to
sisters computer
Might buy another Kingston 128 Mb via Buy.com since prices are at its lowest.
Unless you do advanced video or sound editting, 128 is plenty for Win9x or NT4. If Windows 2000, 256 is really a must for decent performance, 384 would be great. Anything more is just a waste of money unless you're doing video or sound stuff.
256mb(2x128mb) of PC133 Mushkin Budget RAM(CAS3), but soon to be replaced with 512mb(2x256mb)of PC133 Infineon RAM that can do CAS2. The 512mb only cost me $230 thx to Compuwiz1 and his great RAM deals.
