Medical Reasons?

Same goes for motorcycle riders who don't wear helmets. You literally were begging for it, so don't be surprised if I don't shed a tear for you, since you obviously didn't care about your life to begin with.

Seriously...if the government passed a law that people needed to chew before they swallowed, some people would STILL break it deliberately.

No, the government shouldn't have to mandate such things, but why not find a slightly less dangerous form of protest?

Agreed. Not to mention the fact that it a) costs you money if you are caught/ticketed and b) IS A SAFETY FEATURE DESIGNED TO PROTECT YOUR STUPID A$$!!!

Although i will turn on the car before every buckles up i usually will not begin to drive until everyone has done so. Care about my friends to much to have the chance they will die because of my driving skills or because some fvcktard decided to drink and ram me at 60 mph.

People who do not buckle up effect more than their own lives. If the passenger ejects out of your car, guess whose insurance is paying for it? The taxpayer also ends up paying for people who don't buckle up in the form of emergency vehicles, clean up, hospital fees, etc. So this is one big brother law that I don't mind at all.

I only got two seats in my truck. So no backseat non-buckle up excuse. Cheesy as it sounds, use it or lose it. I dont want my head, or the head of my passenger breaking the fall when the windshield comes flying @ you.

I always firmly told my girlfriend that she better buckle up. When i catch her not wearing it i hit the brakes hard when i'm stopping at a light just to watch her panic a little and brace herself. She gets pissed, but then buckles up. Try it... Scares the crap out of them and sometimes they even hit the windshield LOL

Whenever I buckle up, whether I'm in a friend's car or a taxi, the other passengers always think I'm the weird one. Their claim: It's NYC, the cars don't move fast enough to need a seat belt.

When I do get a car, I'll enjoy telling them to buckle up or walk.

The car isn't moving unless everyone is buckled in.

A few years back my wife was in an 'accident.' She ran her '74 (?) Gremlin into a light pole on the side of the road becase she and her best friend were screwing around with the radio.
It wasn't fast, only 15 to 20mph from what she told me, but neither one of them were wearing seat belts. My wife is very petite, about 115lbs now, 4 months pregnant. She flew up and smashed her head into the windshield. Scarred up her forehead a bit, but it mostly just scared her because of the blood. Her friend flew forward and hit her throat on the dash. She was unable to speak for a few days and her spine was somewhat bruised up from the incident.

I was in an accident a few years back with a friend of mine. He was driving, I was in the passenger seat. We were pulling out of a parking space and I hadn't even thought to put on my seat belt yet. We got hit by some (speeding) 15 year old (honestly, he didn't even have his drivers licence or proof of insurance on him) on the pasenger side. My friend was ok, just a little shaken up. I got bounced up a bit, slammed my head into the cieling and door I think. My neck burned like hell after I got out of the car, but by the next day I couldn't turn my head. I had several impacted vertebrae in my neck and upper spine.

From those incidents, I refuse to let anyone ride with me that wont wear a seat belt.

i dont care if my passengers are belted in (but they usually are)

i personally wont go without a belt... i dont understand why its a hassle for some

i used to not belt when sitting in the back, but now i belt no matter where i am, because i realized that you're not protecting yourself from your driver or yourself, you're protecting yourself from OTHER drivers

same reason why i always wear a helmet when biking... not because i will make myself fall of my bike... but because i can be blindsided anyday by some moron

oh yeah, during my k-12 days, this girl i knew was driving around with 4 friends over the summer... they swerved on a mountain side road, crashed, 3 of them flew through the window and died, and 1 of them died from impact inside the car... the only one buckled in survived.

Everybody wears a seatbelt when I drive... and if my wife forgets I remind her by mentioning being scraped off the dash with a spoon....
