<< Actually, that's a pretty amazing remark coming from someone who uses words like "cesspool" to describe funds collected to feed needy children . >>

That's my bad. It just slipped out and it's been changed.. so what's your problem?

To be truthful, you've simply shown yourself to me to be what I consider a petty, small, mean spirted
self-centered person, but hey if it doesn't bother you, I won't let it be a problem to me.

The government should set a certain strict criterias before a family on welfare are allowed to have an automobile and stay on welfare since car payments, insurance are large portion of their expense. As long as they remain on the welfare, they should only be allowed a car necessary for their purposes they submit for qualification and sh!ttiest looking car that pass the road worthiness test is the only type they should be allowed.

Do you have any idea what a passable system of public transportation would cost? Plus it's damn hard to pave over rails.

So if they cut allowing any of their kids to buy snacks, stop using the dishwasher(saves power), no make ups for the girls, no television and no going out to eat, I bet they could scrape $2.25, heck even $5.50 a day. If they have three kids, they can have the third on welfare and other two on regular instead of making the gov't pay for all three.

Kids got a point . . . y head. I'm sorry couldn't resist. I think you've got some interesting concepts working here.

That's such a rip off for the tax payers. Who wouldn't want to have a job that gives you the money to spend on stuff you want and have the gov't pay for your food?, but who'd want to pay for them?

local ripoff
stadium ripoffs
drug company rip-off
But this is big time.

The Washington, D.C.-based Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, estimates that the feds now spend roughly $65 billion each year on more than 100 programs that provide taxpayer assistance to American businesses. Many, like the logging-road subsidy, are both environmentally dubious and fiscally irresponsible. Most, like the broadcast rip-off, have what Cato researchers call "a Robin-Hood-in-reverse impact: redistributing income from generally middle-income taxpayers to the relatively higher-income owners and shareholders in the companies - including multimillion-dollar recipients such as Rockwell International Corporation, Westinghouse, B.F. Goodrich, McDonnell Douglas, and AT&T - that receive the government checks."

As economist Walter Williams of George Mason University quipped on Stossel's program: "I think that a thief is slightly nobler than Congress. That is, a thief will take our money and be on his way. A congressman will take our money and then bore us with the reasons why we should be happy about it."

Keep up the good fight, Jerboy.

Jerboy must really be working hard to keep this thread alive.
Let it go, man.
It's not sturgeon caviar line, it's a frikken snack line. And while it may be a huge suprise to you, poor kids eat snacks too.

You're right about that and I don't really care. To their own. GIVEN ONE CONDITION that money magically appears into their hand from nowhere or comes from their parents and that it doesn't come from tax payer's pocket or by jacking up the regular lunch price to compensate for them.

<< My high school has seperate lines for the free/reduced price lunches. Then there are the regular lunch lines. They are also the so called snack lines. I don't have a problem with the underpriviledged children that recieved an extra 50 cents that day to buy some cookies. I don't come anywhere near qualifing for the free lunch at my school, but I don't make fun of them or think that they are less than me. There is one student at my school that is homeless and has 5 brothers/sisters. Do I think down on her or do I think that they shouldn't recieve free lunch or welfare? NO. I'm still a high school student but I pay taxes on my after school income. I don't know if that goes toward welfare or free lunch. But even if it did. I would be happy that it did. >>

Something that really sickens me is that my school's cafeteria puts the left over lunch into fridge and serve it over the week and that explains why salad looks so soggy and we get new fresh stuff when old left over runs out. I think they should have a separate free lunch line and serve the still edible days old remaining at free/reduced line and serve the fresh stuff for us paying students

You are being a troll, jerboy. I'll make a point to not respond to any of your future posts since you don't really seem to be looking for a discussion or debate.

<< Here's what I think...the reason those kids are on the dole is cuz they're poor. They need that extra in the form of free lunch or free money. If they were just given free money, a portion of it would go to random crap and a portion would go to lunch.

By giving them free lunch, you insure they get a whole meal and they just shift some of the money they would have spent on food to the other stuff...
>>

urm... I think not allowing one to have control over what to do with their income should be prerequisite on receiving welfare, so these people won't be getting random crap.
