For Episcopalians, the New Testament is what is important, NOT the Old.

The Old is useful in that it helps us understand the mindset of the people before the New Testament.

The Episcopal Church is not one to make pronouncements about what is ok or not ok. They will say this is an important issue and the Church needs to think about it, but the Church is not in the business or making moral pronouncements or condemning people.

There are huge numbers of openly gay people in the Episcopal Church, and it is only in this one case where it has caused any controversy. There are some Episcopalians who are against this, but it is a small minority, probably most of the folks in the Anglo-Catholic movement.

I wondered why they have an openly gay man (who's lived with his "partner" for over 10 years) acting as a priest. Most Churches would give them the boot. If they're not willing to say a priest or a parishoner is openly sinning, why should it bother them if a bishop does it.

They don't really have a problem with it.
The level of him being Bishop and the press's love of controversy has made an issue out of what is almost a non-issue. This has flushed out the minority of folks who have problem with it, and handed them a microphone connected to National broadcasts.

Having sex with anyone other then your spouse, the person of the opposite sex whom you are married to, is wrong. If you happen to be one of the few that don't believe in God the there would be no reason to answer the poll as you don't believe in going to church either.
