[POLL] Should you blow a fan over you while you sleep?

It started with a friend who was having a mosquito problem. I suggested putting a fan in her room to blow somewhere over her head but not on her head. That way the mosquito won't be able to follow her breath back to her. Then her roommate told me that yeah, it's DANGEROUS to have the fan blow over you when you sleep. Her reasoning was that "The wind would blow too hard over your mouth that you won't be able to breathe and you might DIE". I always thought it was just cuz you might catch a cold..... what do you all think?

Fans sometimes give me joint and stomach pains if used through the entire night.

But, it won't kill you....sleep apnea patients use a fan to force air down their nose...so its ok.

i think this thread just let me know of the idiots in the world.

Drafts don't cause colds...drafts could carry airborne germs though. No way a fan of any type you'd buy for room use would generate any kind of pressure enough that you could not breathe.

This is like saying cats steal baby's breath.

Now it could chap your lips due to the drying effect but I have always had a fan directly above my bed and sometimes one to the side.

Well if you think like that, the cage on the fan might suddenly break off and the fan itself might fly at you and cut your head off.

Other than that, it's easy to catch a cold if you have a fan blow over you or something, and also, a lot of people get headaches or stomach pains if they do that.

I use a smaller AC fan that I put beside my bed when I sleep (not as much lately since the weather has been cooler and the humidity has been down). I voted it's noisy, though, since it can be quite bothersome sometimes (not if I'm tired enough, though).

I have the habit of sleeping with a fan blowing on me. But when I visited South Korea I would sleep with fan and friends mom would come in a and turn fan off during the night for she fears that I will die. it seems that belief is entrained in korean culture for every fan i seen there has a timer on it for 15, 30, 60 minutes. I have never seen a fan with a timer here in SC

hahaha... that's funny. anyway whenever i do that... for a few days in a row a have a slight cold in the morning and goes away again.
