Wow... I didn't expect people get get banned from this post. But I think I need to tone things down before people bash her more. HER roommate (not mine... although it might be interesting to get a female roommate...hmm), is a good person, just not very... let's say 'street smart'.

So she's not idiotic, just need to be a little wiser. It's kinda like when she was making popcorn. She read the instructions, set it to 3 minutes, walked away, came back to burnt popcorn. She didn't know about the 'making popcorn by ear' rule. Just set the time to something, and just stop it manually when you hear the popping slowing down.

I've never had any ill effects from having a fan blowing in my room and I have it on every night. Windows and doors closed, no change. I'll leave a note to have my family post about it if I die in my sleep because I had my fan running. Millenium wasn't even calling anybody those names, he was just pointing out that those get you banned, but the other doesn't. Even so, the derogatory terms shouldn't have been brought out. He could have just said "racial slurs get you banned" instead of typing them all. Felix shouldn't have called Millenium what he did because that could be just as offensive as the racial slurs to some people. They should both be time time out.

Actually, mosquitos are attracted to the CO2 in your breath as well as body heat and water vapor. They are also attracted to trace amounts of alcohol vapor. If you've ever seen those mosquito traps, they burn propane and make CO2, which attracts the bugs.

Here my random thoughts, most of which have already been covered. I've slept with a fan for many years and there are goods and bads.

Now lets say it is 100% humidity and 90 degrees out and you don't have an AC. I bet you that putting a fan on you all night long will be much healthier than trying to sleep in your own sweat. Regardless of whether you take a shower before hand, this kind of weather is very hard to sleep in.

On the other side, there are nights where you have to be cautious of how you use your fan. You could be semi hot when you go to bed, but during the night the weather could drop greatly and you could wake up extremely cold.

I recall there being a situation where varying extreme temperatures tire out your immune system making you more susceptible to common illnesses.

No, you are not going to die, but you can feel very crappy if you wake up extremely cold because you left the fan on and the temperature dropped. Likewise you could feel very good if the fan kept you cool all night in insanely hot tempertature. The white noise affect and soft wind blowing on your skin is an incredible relaxer as well.

When your body is cold, your immune system slows down, yes. But the cold also means germs in the air multiply less, by a much larger factor, so the cold by itself would actually be good for you.

What happens is when you come into a heated room from the cold, it takes time for your immune system to adjust to the change, and that is when you are more likely to catch something.

I have one of those vornado columnated air fans blowing on my face (across my feet first) and since my roommate has been out of town i've had his fan pointing at my face too. I have never had a problem with the exception of waking up slightly cold in the middle of the night. I get horribly chapped lips but its never any different with or without a fan. The thing about the cold may have some validity its the fact that if your body is cold your body uses more energy trying to keep you warm, giving less energy to your immune system making it easier for a virus to do its job, this is what i have heard, but I don't know if thats true or not.
