poll: take klipsch 5.1 to dorm, or buy 2.1 speakers.

what do you think i should take? if you think i should take some 2.1 speakers, recommend some cheap speakers.

take your 5.1's if you have room for them. You can still listen to surround at low volumes. Buying cheap 2.1s, even if they're cheap, would drive me frickin crazy, but that's just because I'm hopelessly addicted to surround.

imo anything for $50 just isn't worth it. logitech has some new "high-quality" 2.1 speakers out. they're on newegg i think, i forgot the name

I have the old promedia 4.1's in my dorm. It's really not that bad - you can stick the woofer under your desk, a couple satellites on top, but the hard part is trying to find places to stick the other speakers. I had to build a couple ghetto stands to stick my back two on. I also tried your other suggestion about just setting up the front two. It was nice and it worked, but like NIk I felt something was missing after being used to surround, so I brought them back after a couple weeks. If you have the space bring your 5.1 setup, if not setting up two would work, but don't go buy another 2.1 set just for college. You already spent enough on your current one, why not use it?

thanx for the advice, the only thing i was worried about was the space that it takes up. i'll try using just the front two speakers for a while and see how that works out. how would the two front channels and a center channel sound, (no rears). if i decide to use only the 2 front sattelites, should i not use the center?
