Poll: Tax refund coming...what will you buy ?

Many of us will be receiving up to $600 soon in the mail as part of the tax rebate.

Just curious how many hobbyist here are going to use the money towards an ugrade or something else..?

You know what sucks about the distribution method for the refunds? they are going by the last two digits of the social security number, so, 00 would be first to get it, the last two digits of mine are 89:| looks like I may be waiting a while.

As I understand it, Single filers get aprox 300 back, Joint filers get 600 or so..


I am going to spend about half of it on my home, and the rest on a weekend vacation with my dog.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the tax changes the President, The House, and The Senate passed...........but I do know this, any money back in my pocket is good by my standards and i won't bitch about it!

If your a dependent, you ain't getting anything back, If not a dependent....The 2001 advance payment amount is a maximum of $300 for a single taxpayer, $500 for a head of household, and $600 for a married couple filing a joint return. Most taxpayers will get the full amount as an advance payment this year; some will have it split between this year and next; and some may get all of it as a credit on the 2001 tax return.

This year's advance payment will be five percent of the taxable income shown on the 2000 tax return, subject to the limits described above. This income amount is on:

Form 1040 - line 39 Form 1040EZ - line 6
Form 1040A - line 25 TeleFile Tax Record - line K

However, the payment cannot be more than the person's tax liability minus any nonrefundable credits. This amount is on:

Form 1040 - line 51 Form 1040EZ - line 10
Form 1040A - line 33 TeleFile Tax Record - line K

If a taxpayer's advance payment is less than the maximum dollar amount for his or her filing status, that person may be able to claim a credit on the 2001 return, up to the difference between the allowable amount and the payment already received.

Well he did get 49% of the votes. If truly only the top 1% of the nation benifits from these Tax-Cuts how did Bush get 49% of the votes?

It's always baffled me on how people complain that the rich get more money back, when the answer is simple... They pay more taxes, much more.

Not only do the rich pay more per %, but they also pay a &quot;higher&quot; percentage...

I vote for a flat tax system. As it is now, the rich should be the ones complaining... as they are getting robbed from the goverment... and bottom line is this, without the rich, America would not be, and we would be in debt even more.

That top 1% of the nation that everyone hates is the same 1% of the nation that pays over 50% of the budget, which pays for our schools and military amongst many other things.


Equate it with this anology. You go to a store, it says everything is 10% off, 2 people in line One buying a 1,000 dollor item, the other buying a 10 dollor item. Here you have the 10 dollor (democrat) guy complaining because he gets a little discount in cash than does the other guy... MY answer to that 10 dollor guy, GO BUY WHAT HES BUYING IF YOU WANT THE SAME DISCOUNT.
