It was a toss-up for me between Tyan and MSI. Tyan isn't the best for overclocking, but I've used three Tyan boards which were all great and exceptionally stable. I have two MSI boards right now that are both spectacular (see below, and the K7TPro2).

Epox made the best Super7 boards and supported them wonderfully -- new BIOS updates every other month or so. I have no experience with their current offerings, but they impressed me back then.

i voted for asus because it has both great stability AND overclockability. i think it is the best combination board you can buy. if you want stable only, get intel or tyan. msi and soyo follow the asus closely, but abit can rot in hell as far as im concerned

Last time I checked Asus was a bit ahead of MSI which is understandable since people are now beginning to hear about MSI's stability. Asus had some really great boards in the past and still continues to produce fairly good boards except they have gotten a bit quirky lately.
One post said that Asus ruled the BX while MSI socket A.
Not true since when the BH6 came out (with a whole lot of problems) it was excellent alias problematic with IRQs BUT at the same time Asus came out with P2B and MSI the 6163. Soyo/Aopen were unable to compete with any major offering until a bit later.
Two years later the MSI 6163 still remains a real sweet board and the person I sold it to still loves it (AND with few BIOS upgrades).
MSI is only getting what it should have had way back.

it was abit asus head to head for a while, but i agree with most saying MSI is new king of motherboards, they have all around great stability, price, performance, and features. another vote for MSI.

Asus, the old Socket7 board I had was solid, should've stuck with them for my Duron... Which reminds me to add FIC to the worst.

Call me nuts but I've used Abit boards and never had a single problem. I can't begin to count the # of boards I have built using Abit boards and they are all still running flawlessly.

I would also vote for Intel motherboards but we all know that they aren't exactly an overclockers dream.

As a system builder, I have alot of experience with motherboards and how their quality is over a large quantity of boards. Without a doubt, I have to say ASUS is the best. Asus has the highest quality over time. We rarely RMA ASUS motherboards. MSI has recently improved their standards, but we have experienced more problems with them in the past and they are not yet up to the low RMA rates of ASUS. Intel boards are of a similar quality level, but they lack the features that ASUS brings to the table.

Other manufacturers may put more features on their boards than ASUS, but for overall quality to features ratio there are none better than ASUS. MSI has made tremendous inroads and may eventually overtake ASUS, but not yet.

Love my Soyo. better than my P3B-F by a small margin.. but i like it a little more.. it overclocks far better. and is also very stable just like my older Asus board. I can't really say for sure which is my fav but overall, Asus is probably the best, they've always got some new product out getting good reviews!
MSI and EpoX are also good... and i think an honorable mention should go to Iwill and Soltek.

my current favorite is ASUS, but my next one will probably be MSI (not that there's anything wrong with ASUS).
