Don't feel sorry for me. I don't believe in reincarnation & the like.
And yes, I think I am capable of "understand the level on which it was written". The visuals in this film were "interesting"...certainly different. On a spiritual level, it was sappy FLUFF. The film assumes that everyone is willing to accept a "my religion is ok; your religion is ok" attittude, and I am not. Right or wrong, I have more faith than that. As far as the story goes...it was very drawn out & slow, and I did actually fall asleep. Under different circumstances: a tolerable movie - maybe; a great movie - no; a guy flick - no; a chick-flick - I don't really think so; a meaningful film for some - apparantly; a meaningful film for many - apparantly not or it would have done better.
No offense, but not my cup of tea. Since this is a "directors" thread, I would say NO to "great(est) director" for Vincent Ward on this one. I'd give a nod to the "art director" & "director of photography" for the colorful & imaginative visuals.
