I'm going to reinstall windows soon, going either with Winxp or Win2k, which should I choose?

unaccessable boot device

I couldn't even get into safe mode to remove it... it would blue screen trying to boot. SP2 & 3 just hate my system.

The new windows update screen looks very similar to the WinXP one now - hopefully they won't try to push any bogus copyright crap (CD key and/or media player) onto Win2k users. Leave that for the novice WinXP morons who don't know any better. Thanks.

im wondering the same thing.. going to do a format and reinstall sometime this month when i find time to back everything up and burn cds... which should i go to? winxp or win2k w/ sp3?? both of them are legal copies so future SPs for WinXP is no problem... also thinking about dual booting w/ linux so that i can finally put forth some time to learn it...

I formatted and just installed 2k again. So much fun.

I don't have SP2 or 3 on here. I haven't managed to get it to work with either.

I am still running SP2. Since I only have dial-up I am not going to download SP3 until I go back to school where I will have a cable modem.

I installed it. I THINK Win2k boots a bit faster but don't quote me on that. No complaints though.

And no, I don't see any real changes. But if you look closely, some 'select a folder' and 'save as' windows look different.

Somewhere there was some reading you were supposed to do before you installed it to see if you really needed it. I didn't have time.

wuauclt.exe just popped up a "do you want Windows to automatically notify you of updates?" message in the system tray. I never downloaded that from Windows Update but I guess they slid that in along with SP3. Yay?

that came out before windows sp3. I have seen it on win2k machines for the last few weeks.
