I completely agree that at a minimum it is systemic racism. And in reality I think it was probably overt racism too. But these people would gerrymander out anyone that votes against them. In OKC, they split the metro up so educated white people couldn't elected a Democrat.Yes for overt. However in the case of systemic racism even if not directly intended racist outcome is built in. Example treatment of blacks by the medical community. Studies have shown for numerous reasons we get desperate treatment. Criminal justice blacks are assumed guilty even if the facts suggest otherwise.
A black man with a criminal record has an equal chance of landing a job vs a white male felon. These are outcomes baked into the system.
Non-partisan is the operative term. I don't believe such a thing exists. Politically, non partisan means a compromise that no one is happy with.
That's at least 3 states where Republicans were busted by courts practicing systemic if not outright overt racism. Louisiana, Alabama and North Carolina. Yet right wingers claim America is not racist.
So, at least 2 more seats will swing back to the D column in '24.
Good news we don't need preclearance anymore. That's at least 3 states where Republicans were busted by courts practicing systemic if not outright overt racism. Louisiana, Alabama and North Carolina. Yet right wingers claim America is not racist.
Seems to me that ever since Thomas, Roberts and Alito were caught with their pants down, accepting gifts and acting like some elite members only club, they realize the gig is up and they know it. The good times are coming to an end. Now.... people really do care and people are paying attention to what these three lunkheads are up to. So. the three now appear to be acting like justices should act, impartial and ruling from the facts. Not the game of right wing hack jobs. But I could be wrong, it could be a trick to throw people off the track.
Yes, that would be the clear answer to gerrymandering but we will never get it because it would take power away from the two parties.Maybe the whole thing could be done differently, on a proportional, whole-state level?
Dems tried to end political gerrymandering with HR-1 but guess who scuttled it?Yes, that would be the clear answer to gerrymandering but we will never get it because it would take power away from the two parties.
