Of course it is racist. We don't need to ask anyone. We know. It is not even close. As of right now the poll is sitting at 93.8% know it is racist. I hazard a guess that the general populace will be about the same. Even people that are racist know that statement is racist. It is practically the mating call of the racist people. It is probably even more racist than using the N word. Hell at least some people can use the N word and not be racist. No one can say what Trump said to anyone and not be racist. If you said it to a Norwegian that was lost and looking for the airport, it would still be racist.

It's crazy the numbers of people that will contort their thinking to excuse it as not racist. It's shocking (but not surprising) that the poll isn't at 100%, as this isn't a close call.

So since they are from this country maybe he accidentally said the US was “a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all)”. I mean this is Trumps government so maybe he just had a slip of honesty?

Would have been great if they said "agreed, resign and we'll take over and fix your awful mess."

I don't know the family histories of the women involved (and I dont think that it matters) but trumps mum was Scottish and his grandad was German. Does that mean that he needs to "go back where he came from"?

Don't forget...his mom was an illegal immigrant.

Actually, snowflake, I did explain my reasoning. Disagreeing with the hive mind on this doesn't make me a racist...I did not defend what he said...I think it's yet another stupid thing said by the orange game show host.

So again, any ideas on a non-racist reason why he would think those women were not US citizens?

Besides him being a fucking moron?

I think he knew that this would create a librul shitstorm...and distract attention from some other devious shit.

So you think he knew they were citizens but decided to deliberately insinuate they were not?

What non-racist reason would he have to believe that would create a shit storm?

It should have created a conservative shitstorm as well... if conservatives weren’t depraved cowards.

I’m struggling to understand the reasoning which is, from my understanding, that Trump did not say something racist, he just deliberately lied about a number of congresswomen because he knew it would be construed as racist and cause a huge shit storm.

Like, isn’t not being racist but deliberately lying about racial issues for the express purpose of inciting racial conflict even worse?

It's not just stupid. It's deliberately hateful & divisive. It's a call to arms for all the scared white culture warriors in America. It's divide & conquer, the whites from the browns. It's part of how the GOP has won elections for decades. Be afraid! Your values are being attacked! Defend your way of life, from them! Commies! Socialists!

The House Democrats, along with four Republicans and Amash, have passed the resolution that the President's remarks are racist. The vote split clearly shows that the House Republicans are on board with white supremacy and language that supports it. The South has risen again and in taking over the Republican party they have exacted their revenge on the Party of Lincoln.

This time they want to take over the nation.

Probably more accurate to say “bigoted” than “racist” since the first term would apply to all 4 women. I know the term has been watered down over the years but really doesn’t apply to AOC since AFAIK she’s a caucasian Latino. Racist is a subset of bigotry anyway so it might be a distinction without a difference though. Trump seems like he’s very equal opportunity in his bigotry and he will happily apply it to your whether your black, Latino, gay, disabled, or anything else. If he had a D&D character class it would be “asshole” and his level would be maxed out.

So 96 dimensional chess master stroke where he forced his entire congress to vote that he isn’t racist?

Trump has a long documented pattern of saying racist comments, notthe least were his attacks against Obama.

If it was a one off, you might have a point, but this is a pattern that repeats.

Hes a racist moron. Period.

His real estate company tried to avoid renting apartments to African-American tenants. He described “laziness” as “a trait in blacks.” He called for five black and Latino teenagers to be executed — and then insisted on their guilt even after DNA evidence proved their innocence.
He rose to prominence in the Republican Party by questioning the citizenship of the first black president. He launched his presidential campaign by saying Mexican immigrants were “rapists.” His political organization created a television advertisement that Fox News pulled for being too racist.
He frequently criticizes prominent African-Americans for being unpatriotic, ungrateful, disrespectful or unintelligent. He mocks Native Americans and uses anti-Semitic stereotypes. He retweets white nationalists. He said that a violent white supremacist march included some “very fine people.” He regularly appoints people with a history of racist comments.
And over the weekend, he told four nonwhite members of Congress — all citizens, of course, and three of them born in the United States — to “go back” to where they came from.

-from nytimes but the perfect reply to you.

I think BoomerD has a point. It distracts from the deliberate cruelty towards migrants. It distracts from obstruction of investigation into previous obstruction. It distracts from the tax cutting looting of the Treasury by the financial elite. It distracts from the deliberate corrosion of the institutions of Democracy. It distracts from potentially ruinous foreign policy. It distracts from the utter corruption of his Admin.

Add me to the "nope" list.

While I think what he said was very stupid and xenophobic, and looks racist, I don't think it was. I think it was just typical Trump "dog whistle" politics designed to stirr up his opposition and his base at the same time.

But, as I said, it was a VERY stupid thing to say...especially to 3 native-born Americans and one naturalized citizen.
I can agree with what you said!! But I personally believe it was meant to be racist in nature and it was meant to suck up to his white supremist base....just my opinion!! But mind you my opinion is skewered by a deep hatred for Trump!!
If I could I would suggest that somebody needs...nah we won`t go there!!
Peace all!!

I thought Lindsey Graham's take on all this to Fox talking heads was the truly remarkable part of the whole thing.

I know this is how they strut for Trump, but come on.

Pure theater for an audience of one, or has Lindsey taken to douching with the Trump Koolaid, not just drinking it?

Those women are communists who hate America and Israel!

I think you are trying to draw a distinction without a difference.

Given his history with racism, it's hard to believe it's not coming from core racist beliefs, but let's just say grant for a minute it's not, rather it's a craven action meant to distract from other issues. Ok....

But using racist firebombs to cause a scene, even if you don't believe you own words, is still a racist action.
The victims of the attack don't feel any different.
The followers that pile on with additional racist bs don't act any different.

So what's the difference? What's the point of trying to divine the nature of his soul when his actions are telling you he doesn't have one one way or another?!

Any racism is always ugly.
And Trump's words absolutely fits that ugly.
And thus, Trump is racist and promotes racism.
But come-on now people.... We already know this.
Everyone American regardless of party or how they feel about Donald Trump know that Donald Trump is a racist.
Trump basically acknowledged that and proclaimed that fact when he first slithered down his Trump tower escalator to announce his candidacy.
So, are people really surprised about this?

Lets just agree that Donald Trump is an racist. Agree with Donald's own words and actions that he is a racist.
The goal is not to prove something that has been proven and acknowledged.
The goal is to get rid of this racist once and for all.
And with that, drive his racist followers back into their closets because their racist attitude that drives them they will never change.
