Do you hold the same opinion of the non-corporeal tri-unicorn which follows you everywhere?
Rumor has it that he serves non-corporeal tea from Russel's Teapot.
No gods, no deities. We conjured them out of our overactive imaginations, just as many fiction and fable writers have done throughout the eons, about a variety of subjects.
Are there more advanced life forms in the universe? I'd say it's quite likely that there are. Might they influence us in some way? Maybe, but very doubtful. Either way, they're still not gods, no more than we are gods of bacteria or fungi, even though we routinely determine their lifespans, and even their course of evolution. Yeast could always think that we have a higher purpose in mind for it, and indeed we do: It's usually sifted, all-purpose, and often bleached. Then, once the yeast has enjoyed a feast, it's a massive slaughter - all for a nice loaf of bread. But again, we're still not gods - we just want a nice localized source of carbon dioxide, with a hint of alcohol.
