Poll: What chipset should i go with?

I am in the process of building a new system. It is coming along slowly though because of my lack of money. Hopefully after Christmas I will have some. I am trying to decide what motherboard to use. I was originally planning on the ABIT Kt7 Raid, then I thought about a DDR board, but after reading ananadtechs article and a few others, it just doesn't look like a DDR board would be cost efficent. So my next idea was(since I probablly won't have money till after christmas) to go with the new KT133A chipset, in the form of maybe the MSI Turbo coming out. Any suggestions?

Personally I'd suggest the KT133A chipset. As you say, the Msi K7T Turbo is out soon and looks like it could be a killer board. It looks like DDR could be a little pricey, but time will tell.

But yeah, I'm going to be upgrading in Janury and I'm pretty certain I'm gonna get a KT133A based mobo

Right now the KT133A seems to be the best chipset. But what board, the only one I know of is the MSI, and that has not been released yet.

Go for mainboards supporting FSB at 266 Mhz and BOTH memory types (SDR and DDR).
I'm pretty sure this is the more flexible solution right now.

Well I never thought of that. If you buy a DDR board, does it have to use DDR memory or can you still use SDR? LMK

Okay new question, I am pretty sure i am going with the kt133a as apposed to DDR, but what board do you think will be better, Abit KT7A Raid or the MSI Turbo????

The KT133A definitely looks like the best bet, for now. I just have to force myself to wait for one (probably the MSI Turbo) to be released.

I personally, do to the success of MSI's K7T Pro2-A, am waiting for MSI's K7T TURBO. However, if you're patient and wait for ASUS's response we may all be surprised. ASUS has had a great reputation and being shown up by MSI may have caught their attention.

Definitely go for the KT133A. I've got a KT7 and love it, but if I had just waited 2 weeks until Anand's article about the KT133A, I would have hung out for a board with the KT133A onboard, just for future upgrading capability and more overclocking options (would love to run this Duron at 133Mhz (266) FSB.
